  • The words of Martin Luther King Jr. continue to challenge us to look beyond ourselves and care for one another. At Ascension, we strive to live that call every day by caring for our neighbors and walking alongside individuals and families across the communities we are privileged to serve.

  • In a new statement, Ascension President & CEO Eduardo Conrado calls on Congress to set aside partisan politics and focus on real solutions to address rising healthcare costs, including an extension of the Affordable Care Act tax credits that expired at the end of 2025. Read his full statement below.

At Ascension, our Mission calls us to serve all people with compassion and dignity. That commitment does not change with political cycles or legislative outcomes. It is who we are and why we exist. At the same time, the decisions made in Washington have real consequences for the patients and communities we serve every day. There is bipartisan momentum in Congress to address the expiration of the Affordable Care Act tax credits. Across party lines, Americans continue to say affordable coverage matters. Families want stability and they want to know they can access care when they need it. Today, more than 20 million people are facing higher premiums or the loss of coverage altogether. For many of our patients, these tax credits are the difference between having insurance and delaying or going without care. The expiration forces impossible choices between medical care and everyday necessities and increases the risk of medical debt. This is not about politics. It is about people. Extending these tax credits would help families keep coverage and ensure care remains available for the people who depend on it. I ask congressional leaders to build on this bipartisan momentum and find a path forward that protects access to care and supports a healthier future for all.
