Austal USA has been awarded $314 million in contract options from the U.S. Coast Guard for the company’s $3 billion Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC) contract. These options fund long lead-time materials (LLTM) for three more OPCs – Austal USA’s 4th, 5th, and 6th cutters -- as well as logistics support for two vessels. With construction of the first two cutters underway, we’re proud to strengthen our partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard and deliver these vital ships that will protect our Nation. Austal USA reposted this
Last Friday, Austal USA successfully launched LCU 1710 into the Mobile River. This is the first of 12 Landing Craft Utility vessels being built by Austal USA for the United States Navy. Designed to support a wide range of military operations, LCU 1710 delivers vehicles, personnel, and cargo from sea-to-shore and back. Each craft boasts an impressive heavy-lift capacity, equivalent to several C-17 aircraft. It is an important connector that plays a crucial role in supporting expeditionary operations for the Navy and Marine Corps. We’re thrilled to see this vessel begin its journey and honored to continue supporting the Navy’s critical operations. We enjoyed hosting leaders from the Poarch Creek Indians to Austal USA for a tour of our shipyard, including a tour of the U.S. Navy Navaho-class tug T-ATS 11 Billy Frank, Jr., a Nisqually tribal member and iconic Native American environmental leader. Their visit reflects our shared commitment to strengthening Alabama’s workforce and exploring opportunities for collaboration in economic development and innovation. We are grateful for the chance to share our work and build meaningful partnerships with organizations that play such an important role in our state’s history, culture and future. Thank you to the Poarch Band of Creek Indians for spending the day with our team.

We’re proud to recognize and thank our dedicated volunteers that make up the Austal USA Fire Brigade team for their service and commitment to a safe working environment. Comprised of 18 courageous members who balance their trade roles with the extra responsibility of volunteering, this team is ready to respond at a moment’s notice. Whether it’s tackling fires on site, managing safety concerns, performing rescues, handling confined space emergencies, or leading damage control efforts, land or sea, their hard work is one of the reasons Austal USA is one of the safest shipyards in the country. Thank you, Fire Brigade, for your dedication and bravery, you truly embody the spirit of teamwork and service! #AustalUSA #Shipbuilding #MobileAL #FireBrigade #InnovativeOnLandExceptionalAtSea

We were happy to have the opportunity to host key leaders from the Navy’s requirements and acquisition process this morning. RADM Mark Behning (OPNAV N97), RDML Brian Metcalf (PEO Ships), and RDML Pete Small (NAVSEA) spent their morning meeting with our leadership team and touring our facility exchanging concepts for successfully executing the Austal USA portfolio of programs. We appreciate their expertise and support as we continue to execute on the programs that will deliver ships to our Navy. During the tour they were exposed to our industry leading workforce and state of the art facilities and how they combined, along with our well-developed manufacturing processes, to consistently perform on-time deliveries of quality ships. We appreciated the chance to host these Navy leaders and look forward to continued collaboration building tomorrow’s Navy. #AustalUSA #Shipbuilding #MobileAL #InnovativeOnLandExceptionalAtSea

Last Thursday evening we were honored to once again host the annual Volunteer and Community Recognition Event for the Mobile Area Council for Scouting America. This annual event celebrates the many notable community leaders who dedicate their time and energy to the scouting mission. Many of our Austal USA shipbuilding team devote time to lead local troops and and support the scouts – especially the Scouts’ welding badge achievements. Partnerships like the one we have with Scouting America are one of the many ways the Austal USA shipbuilding team we gives back to our local communities.
