About us

Baldor is one of the largest importers and distributors of fresh produce and specialty foods in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. We buy directly from domestic farmers and international growers and provide customers with a consistent supply of fresh foods, prepared however they need it. We supply a full range of foodservice clientele from white tablecloth restaurants, hotels, corporate feeders, upscale food markets, hospitals, school cafeterias, country clubs, in-flight caterers and everything in between. Baldor is now headed by Kevin's son, T.J. Murphy, C.E.O. and David McInerney, President. We continue to grow and spread our mission of quality you can trust, and service that delivers. In April 2006, Baldor Boston opened in Chelsea, Massachusetts. In April 2012, Baldor D.C. raised its flag in Jessup, Maryland, and then moved in 2024 to a double-sized warehouse in Latham, Maryland. Our large geographical reach makes us a reliable supporter in each local community we service by buying directly from local farms. Whether you are as far north as Freeport, Maine, as far west as Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, or as far south as Richmond, Virginia, Baldor can fulfill your everyday specialty food needs.

Our valued East Coast US distributor, Baldor Specialty Foods, Inc. is reporting 28% year-on-year growth in the lamb category, which says a lot about where things are heading. At Gundagai Lamb, we've always believed there's a big opportunity for premium lamb when you have the right partners around the table. This is a great example of what that can look like in practice. Big thanks to Molly Greentree, Robert Horvath and the wider Baldor team. The momentum is building, and it's incredibly exciting to be part of the journey.

Red meat is back on the menu! We're thrilled to see Baldor Specialty Foods, Inc. and the red meat resurgence included in Food & Wine's 2026 Food Trends Report. We've seen a 28% year-over-year increase in lamb sales, 19% growth for beef patties, and rising demand for dry-aged beef and heritage pork. As our VP of Business Development, Mark Pastore, noted, "Every menu has a smashburger now." But the trend goes deeper. Chefs are seeking higher quality, whole-muscle beef and distinctive grinds that set their restaurants apart—reflecting what diners want: authenticity, quality, and transparency. At Golden Meat Co., we're proud to supply our customers with the premium cuts and custom grinds to create these signature dishes. • This past weekend, we held our annual Thanksgiving Meal Drive. In partnership with Council Member Rafael Salamanca Jr. and the Bronx Community Board 2, The Point CDC, and the 41st Precinct, #TeamBaldor distributed Thanksgiving ingredients to more than 850 families in our Hunts Point neighborhood. Thanks to our supplier partners, each box included everything to feed a family of four: turkey, fresh produce, bread, milk, juice, dessert, and more. We’re honored to give back to the community that’s given us so much—not just in November, but all year long. #BaldorCares

  • It is with great sadness that we share that Erwan Landivinec, Baldor's Founding Director of Wholesale, has passed away at the age of 66, following a long and hard-fought illness. Erwan's food career began many decades ago in his native France, just as he entered adulthood. After conscription in the French Navy, he began exporting and promoting produce (in particular, endive) for the French government as an alternative to further military service. He soon discovered a passion for sourcing unique items and exposing them to new audiences, and his facility with languages (including French, English, Italian, and Spanish) helped him enormously in this endeavor. This expertise brought him across the pond to Merex Food Corporation, an importer and distributor serving retail and wholesale customers, based in Yonkers, NY, where he did similar work importing and promoting specialty produce from Europe and beyond. He was the first in the US to import now-common items like Belgian endive and French shallots. Among the companies he sold to were Balducci's retail store and Baldor Specialty Foods, which is how he came to the attention of Baldor founder, Kevin Murphy. Kevin convinced Erwan to join Baldor in 2000 and gave him a platform to do what he did best. His colorful career included launching the Wholesale division of Baldor known as IPEX (International Produce Exchange), and this led to many more importing "firsts" like Italian radicchio, Cavaillon melons, Peruvian French beans, rambutan, and mangosteen, just to name a few. He later supervised Baldor's acquisition of his former employer, Merex. Never content with good enough, he launched what became the import arm of both IPEX and Baldor, known as Global Agri, which served distributors outside of the regions where Baldor delivered, offering them access to the unique specialty items he was sourcing from around the world. He spread the impact of Baldor as far west as Chicago and as far south as Texas and Florida. He was also instrumental in developing our Urban Roots line of specialty vegetables. After complicated health challenges motivated his retirement in 2023, Erwan moved back to his family home in Brittany, France, where he spent his final months watching the boats sail by from his front window, sipping rosé, and spending time with his loved ones. He is survived by his wife and daughter. Erwan will be missed by all who had the fortune to meet him, and his memory will live on at Baldor, with his customers, and on menus across the US.

  • Last week, our fall Supplier Showcase brought together the artisans, growers, and makers behind the season's best ingredients. Our team had the opportunity to taste, sample, and celebrate the craft and quality that define this time of year—and the partnerships that make it possible. These showcases are more than tastings. They're a chance for our team to meet the people behind these products, and ensure we're connecting our customers with the best ingredients to elevate every menu. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us! Joe Jurgielewicz & Son Ltd, Niman Ranch, Four & Twenty Blackbirds, Saugatuck Kitchens, Dufour Pastry Kitchens, Traiteur de Paris, Wholesome Crave, De Cecco USA, RIND, Minor Figures, Hudson River Fruit Distributors, Sunripe Certified Brands.

  • In honor of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, we'd like to thank our incredible drivers, who stop at nothing to deliver exceptional service to our customers and communities.🙌 Just this week, Baldor Boston driver Hugo Tejeda demonstrated extraordinary courage on his way back to the warehouse after completing his deliveries. When Hugo spotted a stalled truck on fire with passengers trapped inside, he didn't hesitate—he pulled over, grabbed the fire extinguisher from his truck, and rushed to help. His quick thinking and brave actions helped control the flames and ensure everyone made it to safety. Hugo embodies the spirit of service that drives everything we do at Baldor. Our drivers are more than delivery professionals—they're the heart of our operation. A huge thanks to Hugo, Gilbert (also pictured here!), and our entire team of drivers who go above and beyond every single day. We celebrate you this week, and every week. Have a favorite driver story or want to give a shoutout to one of our team members? Share it in the comments below!👇 #NationalTruckDriverAppreciationWeek #TeamBaldor
