He recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Building Technology from the University of Lucerne – Applied Sciences and Arts (2025). Simon has experience as a Building Technology Planner, focusing on heating and HVAC systems, gained through a three-year apprenticeship, full-time work, and summer roles at a MEP & Engineering Consulting firm in Switzerland. Simon also completed five months of service in the Swiss Army, where he sharpened his discipline, adaptability, and teamwork skills. His combination of technical expertise and on-site problem-solving skills makes him a valuable member of the #BaumannTeam. Fengyuan (Mack) Jiang was in Denver last week to present the Manteno CFD project at the ASHRAE CIDCO 2025 Conference. His presentation, Integrating RCx and CFD to Optimize Thermal Comfort in Veteran Housing, addressed long-standing thermal comfort issues at the Illinois Veterans’ Home at Manteno, where residents have experienced challenges, especially during the winter months, for decades. As part of the renovation of four residential buildings, Baumann Consulting deployed a combined approach of retro-commissioning and CFD, providing actionable insights to improve thermal comfort and ensure a better living environment for veterans.
