October has been all Wellbeing, Wins & What’s Next at BEL Engineering (UK) as we headed towards the end of our financial year🌟 🐾 Wellbeing on the Move Tulip & I headed to Simonside to share the wellbeing love & raise the profile of Wag and Company North East Friendship Dogs. It’s always powerful to connect face-to-face & see the positive impact Tulip has on others. Connections, however small, can make a huge impression 🐶 🥗 Space to Connect Our new canteen officially opened & has been brilliantly received. A bright, social space to refuel & recharge. It's certainly popular & even I’m getting away from my desk to go there 😊 🗳️ We Listened & Now We Act Our Engagement Survey closed at the start of October & the results are in. Comms, action plans & delivery kick off in November. Thank you to everyone who shared their voice. 🦴 Move Well, Work Well Physiotherapy Matters Limited joined us for a back‑care session, then toured the shop floor & offices offering in‑the‑moment advice. Two practical events, great feedback, clear actions. Big thanks to Nikki Verow-Cargan & Fikri for a well talked about session. Looking forward to having you back. 🧠 Mental Health Training: Rollout Complete ... for now ✅  Concluded division-wide training for line managers & colleagues from our partner Talk Works - B Corp. So proud to have led this & work with the incredible team there. Since March 2025, there has been 34 training sessions & 404 colleagues in attendance. Now to keep the momentum going into FY26 with the team. 🏆 Awards Season Begins Kicked off with the #TDRTrustAwards. Beyond proud of kacper konarski for being shortlisted for Machining Apprentice of the Year. & now we’re building towards our own Beyond Awards, with nominations for seven of our apprentices across all year groups & the prestigious HT Lamb Award. Not forgetting celebrating the Long Services milestones of two of our great colleagues. 💛 Better Health At Work Award NE & Cumbria : Gold in Sight 🏅 Final wellbeing activities were completed in October. The portfolio is ready for submission after a few tech hiccups 🤦♀️ Assessment next month. Fingers crossed! 📅 FY25 Wrap I feel it's been a strong year for all things People at BEL Engineering (UK) & I can’t wait to see the year end results next month. I’m hoping there will be successes that we can be proud of. Outside of work, it was a quieter month to rest & beat the lurgy 🤧 before I go into full on Christmas mode🎄 next month. Continued with my volunteering & had a great Mothers & Daughters Day out to see Wet Wet Wet - & bumped into the wonderful Ann Hunter (was Curry). A busy September month at BEL Engineering (UK) of building capability, listening to our people & investing in our community. Here’s what stood out last month: 🧠 Mental Health for All - Kicked off the division-wide rollout of mental health training: 14 sessions with 130 colleagues attending in September. Huge thank you to Jag Stockham & Meg Utting for their coordination & Ann Hunter (was Curry) again for her exceptional delivery. ⚖️ Work–Life Balance in Focus - Welcomed back Oliver Bell for an honest session on burnout, alongside practical flexible working workshops as part of our Work Life Balance Better Health At Work Award NE & Cumbria campaign. 🎓 Growth Recognised - Proud to see colleagues receive their MAKE UK certificates for their leadership training. Proof that learning translates into leadership. 💚 Community Fund Launch - One of my favourite benefits went live: applications opened for the British Engines Community Fund to support charities & community groups close to our hearts. (Of course, I’ve put in for Wag and Company North East Friendship Dogs 🐶) 🔴🟡🔵🟢 Two Insights Days - Attended sessions with both of my teams on Insights. Two formats, two vibes, same goal: deeper self-awareness & better collaboration. Big thanks to Laura Cox for facilitating! 🗳️ Employee Survey is Live - Listening, learning, & acting. Excited for the honest feedback & plans we'll put in place as a result. 🥗 New Canteen, New Vibe - It’s nearly open & it’s beautiful. A proper space to refuel & connect. Looking forward to our official opening! ☕ Macmillan Coffee Morning - Proud to support a brilliant cause together for another year & run our first Star Baker competition, which was won by Michael Averre 👏 🎧 On the Move Learning - I started listening to the Talk Works - B Corp podcast. Perfect for reflective drives & dog walks 🦮. A fantastic set of episodes covering all aspects of mental health so go check it out. Outside of work, I prioritised rest & recuperation after a particularly challenging week. I was grateful for the reset. Then quickly followed by a restorative weekend in Berwick & a Manchester escape to see Moulin Rouge the Musical with my oldest friend! Spectacular!
