About us
Serve yourself and your neighbor, too. Enjoy the harmonies of glasses raised in good health, of silverware rhythmically chiming against ceramic, of laughter and cheers echoing long after the main course is finished. Stick around while the candles burn low, savoring the presence of one another, and conversation that’s moved beyond small talk, fostering new and perhaps unexpected perspectives. Relish in that sense of joy and warmth, and the feeling that at least in this moment, everything, and everyone, just might be alright. Care of Chan is a resource for all things convivial. We believe that great meals bring people closer together. Here you’ll find stories, experiences, guides and products from thoughtful makers and effortless hosts who approach the world with curiosity and purpose. In other words: Everything you need to eat and drink in good company.

We heard the phrase 'let him cook' and ran with it. For J.Crew and Vans’ block party earlier this month, we brought suburban staple Walter's Hot Dogs and OG Queens fave Marino’s Italian Ices to Bond Street for a bonafide summer feast. The pairing epitomized the “old reliable” ethos of the collaboration, repositioning a California heritage brand as a quintessential northeast summer accessory. Guests all-around enjoyed the summer weather, delicious bites, and fun vibes. Thank you to J.Crew and Vans for letting *US* cook with this idea. A big thank you to our Care of Chan production wizards and coordinating chefs: Dani Dillon, Jake Stavis, Maggie Russell, Perry Ross, and Stacy D. Snyder. 📸 ℅ cobeyarner

A few months ago, Alex Daly and I sat down with Sue S. Chan and Gabrielle Domingo over lunch at Raf’s—one of our favorite spots—to get to know each other’s work. The conversation was so inspiring, we knew we had to link and build. Fast forward: together with Care of Chan's unmatched event expertise and expansive cross-industry network, we partnered with our client Substack to host what became the media breakfast of the summer. The turnout blew us away! Getting people to show up for a breakfast before 9AM in the middle of summer is no small feat—but the room was buzzing. The brilliant team at Happier Grocery kept everyone well-fed with the dreamiest buffet spread. As a voracious media consumer, it was a thrill to be surrounded by the voices shaping how we engage with culture today. Reporters from institutions like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Infatuation mingled with new media personalities like Recho Omondi (The Cutting Room Floor) and Substackers like Katie Stone (Plant Based). The energy was inspiring—it felt like a snapshot of where media is headed: legacy outlets and new platforms learning from one another in real time. Huge thanks to Cole Billik and the Care of Chan team, Liz Song and Helen Tobin for championing Substack, WSA for lending us their stunning space, and Marisa Langley for capturing it all so beautifully. Already scheming on the next one ✨
Last week, Daly teamed up with our brilliant clients Substack and friends Care of Chan for Off the Record: a breakfast that pulled legacy and new media voices into one (very cool) room at the WSA in NYC. It's no secret: the media world’s been moving at warp speed. Newsrooms are shrinking, independent voices are exploding on platforms like Substack, and these tight-knit, niche communities are becoming the real power players. These days, it’s less about the masthead and more about the person telling the story, and about building the kind of authentic relationships people actually care about. We had excellent attendees from The New York Times to Eater, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, New York Magazine, Fast Company, Inc. Magazine, The Information, beloved cross-industry podcasts, and of course, a wide range of stellar Substacks like Upstarts Media (Alex Konrad), Deez Links (Delia Cai), and Cake Zine. Proof that the future of media isn’t coming—it’s already here. Huge thanks to our partners (cc Helen Tobin, Liz Song, Sue S. Chan), and to everyone who showed up bright and early. More to come. ✨ & photos by Marisa Langley x

Playing with food, but make it professional. UNIQLO leaned into their playful side for their UT x Studio Ghibli feast. We enlisted the brilliant culinary artist Thu Buser to create an immersive centerpiece inspired by Spirited Away. Thu worked seamlessly with the culinary team at Sunday Hospitality’s Rule of Thirds to orchestrate a grand reveal that elicited gasps of delight from every guest. This unforgettable dinner truly brought the magic of Studio Ghibli films to life, for fans to see and taste. A special thank you to UNIQLO US, Studio Ghibli, Thu Buser, Rule of Thirds, and our Care of Chan team: Bianca Flores, Cole Billik, Echo Chen, Esther Robinsun-Abrams, Gabrielle Domingo, Jake Stavis, and Zach Marshall. 📸: BFA

Cream: It’s not just a Wu-Tang refrain, but also the muse behind Mina Park’s beloved cake studio, 99. What started as a pandemic experiment has become a sensation both IRL and URL: Park has cemented herself among New York’s pastry elite with her signature cream cakes and plush pastel mochi, always ethereally light, unbelievably Instagrammable, and never too sweet. Last month, we caught up with the chef at her Brooklyn home-studio, discussing aesthetic inspiration, wedding cake architecture, and the educational powers of YouTube. Rain or shine, we're better when we're together. Earlier this month, Care of Chan and Project Gather joined forces with One Love Community Fridge, a local non-profit dedicated to fighting food insecurity, to pack 500 nutritious produce bags for outdoor fridges across the city. Despite the rainy weather, friends new and old showed up to Fort Greene Park to serve their community, all the while building meaningful connections through food. A very special thank you to community organizer, One Love Community Fridge for being an amazing co-host during this special event! Every day, I’m so inspired by the love and energy our team pours into curating exceptional experiences, forging meaningful connections, and truly making an impact. From the kitchens to the front lines, it’s more than just great food – it’s about creating spaces where relationships thrive and memories are made. We’re not just in the restaurant business; we’re in the community-building business. Every meal, every smile, every gesture counts towards fostering stronger, more connected neighborhoods. It’s a privilege to work alongside people who share this vision. Let’s continue to cultivate experiences that bring people together, support local, and contribute to something greater. "I love drama and maybe that's the Iranian side of me," explains Shauna Saneinejad the culinary producer and food stylist behind Joon Eats. For this year’s Nowruz, she collaborated with Lauren Nikrooz to create an immersive family-style feast at SAA, reinterpreting Iranian traditional decor and dishes through a modern, design-focused lens.
