  • CHIEF 2025 opened with a powerful and inspiring message from CHTA President Sanovnik Destang, CPA, CA, CFA, a reminder of both the strength of our industry and the urgency of the moment we’re living in. He celebrated a year of “firsts” for CHTA: expanded industry leadership, breakthrough partnerships, the growth of our Young Leaders, and historic momentum across events like Marketplace and the Direct Booking Summit. He also delivered a clear call to action on climate resilience, reflecting on the devastation of Hurricane Melissa and the disproportionate impact facing small island nations. His message was unambiguous: the Caribbean is doing the work, but global partners must step up, not out of charity, but responsibility. Through it all, he honored the resilience of our people, the creativity of our culinary teams, and the volunteers and hosts who made CHIEF and Taste 2025 a milestone year. A powerful start to an unforgettable week, and a rallying cry for innovation, unity, and a more resilient Caribbean tourism industry. Stay tuned to our social channels as we share more insights from CHIEF and highlights from Taste of the Caribbean. #CHTANow #CaribbeanHospitality #CaribbeanTourism

  • In a new article for HotelExecutive, CHTA President Sanovnik Destang, CPA, CA, CFA urges the industry to stop viewing AI as a threat — and start seeing it as a powerful opportunity. AI isn’t here to replace the heart of hospitality. It’s here to enhance it: ✔️ Streamlining operations ✔️ Reducing repetitive tasks ✔️ Allowing teams to focus on genuine guest connection ✔️ Making advanced tools accessible even to small and independent properties As Destang highlights, the real promise of AI lies in enabling Caribbean hotels to deliver more personalized, efficient, and memorable experiences, while staying competitive in a rapidly evolving global market.
