Founded in 2017, Centivo’s model was designed specifically to curb the inefficiency and waste in today’s employer healthcare market. In partnership with leading local health systems, Centivo’s primary care-centered health plan offers U.S. employers a replacement to traditional health insurance carriers, lowering the total cost of care by 30% or more while delivering tangible value to employers, employees, and its partner health systems. Centivo delivers on its mission every day for its diverse employer clients across America – from local bakeries and schools to Fortune 100 enterprises.     Affordability and economic issues are very real when McDonald's is cutting prices - rather than simply gaining share at its existing price points - which is what typically happens in times of economic distress. Employers should use this as an opportunity to help their workforces with affordability oriented actions on all fronts, including healthcare. Historically, large employers have too often focused on demand side healthcare levers such as salary banded contributions, wellness incentives, point solution adherence, and, of course, cost shifting. Unfortunately, these approaches are ineffective at driving the market share shift that truly addresses affordability - getting more care provided by high-value providers. If you are serious about affordability without looking for the next annual patch, consider the following: (1) add an affordable plan option based on high-value care, (2) let employees make that choice at point of enrollment, and (3) make sure the payoff in terms of paycheck cost recognizes the actual difference in how care is delivered (usually 20+%). Consumers react well to simple menus and price-based decisions. Just ask McDonald's.
