The City of Duluth continues to monitor wildfire risks. The impacts of the Brimson Complex Fire and Munger Shaw Road Fire have been limited to air quality issues within the City of Duluth boundaries; however, the regional impact of these wildland fires is significant. In response, the Duluth Fire Department has sent firefighters and equipment to assist in both the incident’s operational and tactical response. Conditions have improved locally but are still dangerous. As a result, the City of Duluth is not currently issuing burn permits. People are the cause of 90 percent of fires in Minnesota. Tips to prevent wildland fire include:   -Honor the MN DNR’s statewide fire danger maps and burning restrictions. -Avoid recreational fires at times of high fire danger. If you must burn a campfire or recreational fire, keep the fire at least 25 feet from any structure (15 feet if in a manufactured fire pit); burn only clean, dry wood, and do not use accelerants. Do no allow the fire to exceed three feet in diameter by two feet in height. Do not leave the fire unattended.
