Fontana Mayor Acquanetta Warren kicked off National Concrete Pipe Week during a visit to local precast concrete manufacturer Jensen Infrastructure on September 22. Sponsored annually by the American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA), the week recognizes the significant impact reinforced concrete pipe and the precast industry contribute to improving the quality of life in communities across the nation. “No one can tell me how important infrastructure is,” said Mayor Warren during a presentation at the Jensen facility. “We can’t do it without it. We can’t build homes. We can’t build other businesses. More importantly, we can’t build other lives without infrastructure of this magnitude." “I’m grateful that there’s a Concrete Pipe Week. We need that so people can honor those who are doing those things that make a big difference for all of us. It is my honor to officially be able to kick off Concrete Pipe Week 2025 in the great city of Fontana.” The Jensen Fontana plant is 44 acres and has been in operation since 1997, and now has a workforce of more than 250 employees. "The success of our business community is critical to the success of our city. Businesses like Jensen Infrastructure don't just build products-they build opportunity. We take pride in the phrase Made in Fontana, and Jensen Infrastructure embodies that spirit," said Mayor Warren. During a tour of the facility, Mayor Warren reviewed the inner workings of various manufacturing processes, including how large-diameter concrete pipes are made for conveying water. During the visit, Jensen Director of Sales Aaron Pettit noted the mayor’s longstanding commitment to infrastructure growth for Fontana. He also welcomed local Jensen customers Tomas Ramirez and Mike Pfister from CP Construction Company. “Mayor Warren has outlined bold infrastructure goals for Fontana—safer streets, stronger connections for walkers and cyclists, revitalized downtown spaces, and infrastructure built to last,” Pettit said. “These priorities not only improve quality of life but also strengthen the foundation for continued growth and opportunity in our community.” Gene Na, ACPA California Managing Director, thanked the mayor and Jensen for recognizing the significance of Concrete Pipe Week. “We are celebrating this week around the country in facilities just like Jensen Fontana. We have more than 400 concrete pipe manufacturers as members across the country. I’m thrilled Jensen is making concrete pipe and is with us as part of ACPA.”

Yesterday, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development held a meeting at Pepperdine University, “A Faithful Response to Homelessness”—hosted by HUD Regional Administrator William Spencer—brought together housing officials, non-profits, faith leaders, elected officials, and community representatives. From the Inland Empire, we were joined by Mayors Warren (Fontana), Leon (Ontario), and Ulloa (Chino). The discussion highlighted recent changes to HUD policies, including expanding access for faith-based organizations to federal funds and new requirements linking federal housing assistance to participation in drug treatment and counseling. This marked yet another step forward in how our communities can work together to address homelessness.
