  • Thank you to Alexis Govea and FOX 26 for stopping by Downtown Selma and spotlighting a few of our local businesses ahead of Small Business Saturday. Their coverage gave the Valley a glimpse of the momentum happening in our downtown. This work is driven by the Downtown Selma Business Improvement District, where local business owners partner with the City to strengthen economic growth and create meaningful experiences for residents and visitors. Small Business Saturday is one example of how this collaboration brings businesses together to showcase what makes Selma unique.

  • The City of Selma is proud to partner with the Fresno County Economic Development Corporation and the California High-Speed Rail Authority to bring the Central Valley Training Center directly to our community. This collaboration continues to show what can happen when local, public, and regional partners work together to create real opportunity. Since opening in 2020, CVTC has graduated more than 300 students, and 18 percent of those graduates are Selma residents. It shows that when training is accessible, our residents step forward, gain in-demand skills, and move directly into careers that support their families and strengthen our regional workforce. Congratulations to Cohort 19!

  • As the holiday season gets underway, our Selma Police Department is sharing this reminder to plan a safe way home if you’ll be drinking. It’s a simple message, but an important one during a time filled with celebrations and gatherings. Selma PD will conduct DUI checkpoints and increase patrols throughout the season. This PSA is one of the ways we’re keeping the community informed and encouraging safe choices.

  • With storm clouds gathering this morning, our Public Works team was out there putting in the work, filling sandbags, and ensuring our community has the support it needs as the storm approaches. Selma residents can pick up free sandbags at 1325 Nebraska Ave, Selma, CA 93662. Each household may receive up to 10 bags, ensuring this service reaches as many homes as possible. As the weather moves in, we’re grateful for the team behind the scenes who keep our city prepared and responsive.

  • Today, the City of Selma honors the courage, dedication, and leadership of our nation’s veterans. Veterans Day is an opportunity to recognize those who served and continue to serve, protecting the freedoms and values we all share. It’s also a time to remember those who are no longer with us and the impact they made on our communities. From our Veterans Plaza to every corner of our city, we remain grateful for the men and women whose service strengthens the fabric of our nation. The City of Selma thanks and honors all who have served.

  • Behind a simple storefront in Selma Plaza now stands a place of healing for those who need it most. Last week, we joined Crestwood Behavioral Health, Inc. to celebrate the grand opening of the new Selma Wellness Center, a project six years in the making that brings vital mental health resources to our community. When Crestwood’s facilities team first saw the site in 2019, they walked out, convinced it couldn’t be done. With determination, partnership from City staff, and support from Fresno County and local agencies, the vision came to life. The Selma Wellness Center can house up to 40 residents and features spaces for Zumba, recreation, a library, and a gym that support recovery and wellness. More than 50 new jobs have been created, and what was once an empty building is now a place of hope, compassion, and second chances.
