🎙️New CC Pod episode: Guest host Dimitry Gershenson sits down with Joseph Kao, PhD, founder and CEO of Magnefy, a Stanford spin-out pioneering a new way to keep the power grid healthy and resilient. Magnefy’s edge AI and high-frequency magnetic sensing platform brings real-time predictive maintenance to transformers, switchgear, and generators. Their $500 non-invasive sensor gathers 250x more clean, high-frequency data than legacy systems, spotting early warning signs like partial discharge long before traditional tools can. Announcing our $12M Seed Round co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and CIV. For most of my life, I assumed technology only moved in one direction: Faster, better, cheaper. Progress felt inevitable. But if you look at the industry that once embodied American ambition, that's not happening. Over the past 50 years, our ability to build large construction projects has not just stagnated, it has eroded. We built faster, better, and cheaper in the 1960s than we do today. What a shame. This is happening at the exact moment we need to build more than ever. More energy to win the AI race, more critical minerals to secure our supply chain, and more advanced manufacturing to reindustrialize. In the last decade, China built an order of magnitude more energy infrastructure than the US. This is not how we win. That is why we’re building Unlimited Industries. We are an AI-native, vertically integrated construction company. We’ve raised a $12M seed round co-led by Andreessen Horowitz (Katherine Boyle) and CIV (Abhijoy Mitra) with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, Hustle Fund, Earthshot Ventures, MCJ, Liquid 2 Ventures and others to redefine how humanity builds. We’re going to automate construction end to end and ensure a future of radical physical abundance. A world where cities rise at the push of a button. Today we are designing and building $100M+ data centers, power plants, and mining facilities. Our AI platform compresses engineering timelines from months to days and delivers optimized designs that simply are not achievable through manual effort. The thing I am most proud of is the team we are building. A small, hyper talented group of multidisciplinary builders who work with intensity, care about craft, and genuinely give a shit. If you want to tackle problems that reshape the physical world and define the new playbook for how civilization builds in the decades ahead, reach out. We are hiring across mechanical, electrical, civil/structural, simulation, and software. We started the company earlier this year, raised money, built out the core technology and team, and kicked off our first real projects. And we’ve done it all under the radar until today. Excited to continue building the team that will build the future of our physical world. It's time to build. cc Jeff Rosenthal, Patrick Maloney, Zabie Elmgren, Talia Goldberg, Nathaniel Montana, Eric Bahn, Cody Simms, Jennifer Yip, Erik Torenberg, Sundeep A., Justin Lopas, Todd Jackson, Jordan Black, Benjamin Shanahan, Titiaan Palazzi, Brad Jones, Ashwin Lalendran, Dawn Lippert, Mike Jackson, Matt Logan, Sam Steyer, Tom Steyer, Nikil Viswanathan, Founders You Should Know

Way to go Metalmark Innovations!
Big news from Metalmark! 🎉 We’re honored to announce that Metalmark has been selected as a key implementation partner in a collaborative project awarded under ARPA-H’s BREATHE program. The project, led by Mayo Clinic along with Siemens and academic collaborators, aims to advance indoor biosensing and respiratory transmission risk mitigation in healthcare settings. Metalmark will lead the effort to deploy the novel biosensors and mitigation solutions across Mayo Clinic emergency departments in Minnesota, Florida, and Arizona. Emergency departments are high-stakes environments where what's in the air can directly impact patient and staff health. We're ready to help demonstrate that effective, cost-efficient solutions to protecting patients and healthcare staff are within reach. Grateful to work alongside such exceptional partners in advancing the future of healthcare safety. Great read Joel Jean on how solar can power AI!
The Sun powered the first intelligence on Earth—humans. Our 20W brains run on solar energy mediated by plants. Now a new intelligence is coming. AGI may arrive as soon as 2030, with artificial superintelligence (ASI) coming soon after. I believe it too will be solar powered. AGI will run on solar energy mediated by PV. Because when you light a fire that will never go out, you need a forever energy source. We’ve unlocked infinite energy just in time for infinite intelligence. I had a lot of fun writing this piece! Congrats C.Scale!
As #Greenbuild 2025 opens this morning in L.A., we are thrilled to celebrate our initial fundraise to break down the barriers that building professionals face on every project! For too long, the path to low-carbon design has been expensive, time-intensive, and gated by specialized expertise. We're making it the path of least resistance. **Read the full article linked below** What users get now: Fast, early-phase insights that support decarbonization strategy from day one—no spreadsheets, no guesswork. What this funding unlocks: We're extending our platform through every design phase to procurement, giving the building industry: ✅ Product-specific EPDs integrated into full life-cycle assessments ✅ Direct connections between projects seeking low-carbon results and manufacturers offering low-carbon products ✅ The data teams need, exactly when they need it—from proposal through procurement Thanks to Mike Winterfield from Active Impact Investments and Paul Straub from Wireframe Ventures for your belief in what we're building; to Travis Katz for your invaluable contributions as our rock-star board member; and to Climate Capital and Tom O'Keefe for your support. #lowcarbon #construction #buildingmaterials #climatetech #supplychain

Congrats to the Swift Solar team on this incredible milestone!
The United States Department of War (fka DoD) is the world's largest institutional consumer of energy and petroleum. It has also played a key role in inventing and enabling many world-changing technologies (GPS, internet, radar, etc). Now the DoD is helping to build the future of energy. Swift Solar just completed the first US deployment of perovskite tandem solar technology for defense, in partnership with the DoD, US Army, and Virginia National Guard. This is an exciting milestone for Swift and for US solar 🇺🇸 Perovskites are ready to scale and serve America's energy needs! 🫡

Today, I’m proud to share that Vammo has raised $45 million in Series B funding, led by Ecosystem Integrity Fund, with participation from 2150, Qualcomm Ventures, Construct Capital, MONASHEES, Maniv, and Endeavor Catalyst. Our mission has always been simple but ambitious: to make clean mobility the most affordable option for everyone. In just three years, our team has built Latin America’s largest electric two-wheel platform — integrating vehicles, battery swapping, financing, and maintenance into one seamless ecosystem, designed for the realities of the delivery riders and everyday workers who move our cities. As Brazil prepares to host COP30, this milestone isn’t just about capital; it’s about momentum. It’s proof that the next wave of urban mobility innovation will come not from San Francisco, but from São Paulo, showing that the future of clean, inclusive transportation can be built first where the need is greatest. To everyone who believed in us early, our team, riders, partners, and investors, thank you! É preciso ter coragem para mudar! We’re just getting started. 🎥 I hope you enjoy our Manifesto video below. 🌎 We’re hiring! Congratulations on such an exciting milestone for Copper, so well deserved!
We're announcing another big milestone at Copper today: We've become the first major appliance company to be certified as a B Corp. As background, the nonprofit B Lab created the B-Corp certification to recognize companies meeting the highest standards of social and environmental accountability, performance, and transparency. This certification touches all aspects of our company's operations, and it has been years in the making. Among the first of these efforts was to embed the elimination of fossil fuels directly into our corporate charter as a public benefit corporation. Today, we use this lens when making nearly every decision. The outcomes are some that I am proudest of, like our work to decarbonize and improve air quality in affordable housing. As with most of these types of announcements, this certification is less of an outcome and more a signal of the work that is underway. Stay tuned as we continue to scale.
