About us

We are a new non-profit (501c3) that addresses homelessness in the Raleigh and Wake County area of North Carolina. CoalitionNC does this by using a proven model and in conjunction with other non-profits to provide a holistic approach to helping the homeless transition to employment, housing, reconnection with family, and long-term stability. To do this, we will have in house mental health and substance abuse counselors and programs. Our program is modeled after Georgia Works, which is based in Atlanta, Georgia. Georgia Works has been in operation since 2013 and has an 80% success rate in graduates being employed, housed, and stable after graduation. For life skills training, we will be utilizing programs from partner non-profits that have proven successful over time. We intend to use an employment staffing agency as a social enterprise to help fund our training program. Georgia Works uses this same model, and they can fund over 75% of their program expenses. We expect to achieve that goal by the end of year two. Our plan calls to house up to 170 people at a time. Our twelve-month program will start by focusing on men as they make up 75% of the homeless population. We will include women as our program matures. We expect to graduate 28 people in year one and 154 people in year two and the following years. We are passionate about helping to solve the homeless problem. We all know that when the fog of COVID-19 is lifted, we will have a much larger homeless problem. It is easier to transition people out of homelessness who have not been homeless for a long period of time. Our program is not for everybody. We can help those that are motivated and desire to break the cycle. We drug test, and we do mental health assessments. If people do not qualify for our program because of ongoing substance abuse or severe mental health problems, we will help transition them to partners who can help them.
