  • #Fresno welcomed our #OpenEnrollment tour with open arms, uniting families, leaders, and community partners committed to expanding access to care across the Central Valley. 🧡 ✨ Our first stop on the final tour was Clinica Sierra Vista, an organization founded on the belief that healthcare is a human right. Their comprehensive, compassionate approach deeply aligns with our commitment: ensuring every Californian has access to the coverage and care they deserve. Our speaker, Dr. Olga Meave, Chief Executive Officer of Clinica Sierra Vista, reminded us that connecting people to coverage is more than access alone, it’s about transforming lives and shaping a healthier future for Fresno and communities across California. ✨ We closed the day at Centro Valley La Familia Community Clinic, an organization that serves over 15,000 families annually through its signature platicas, community conversations that empower residents to advocate for themselves and become trusted messengers. Many staff members began as enrollee themselves, a powerful testament to the clinic’s commitment to cultivating leadership from within. This event continued that tradition by uplifting local voices closest to the challenges of coverage gaps. We were grateful to be joined by Jessica Altman, Executive Director of Covered California, Jeffrey Reynoso, DrPH, MPH, Margarita Rocha, Executive Director, Centro La Familia Advocacy Services, and Olga Meave, Clinica Sierra Vista. Their leadership continues to advance health equity and ensure families get covered and stay covered this Open Enrollment season. While this event concludes our Open Enrollment Kickoff Tour, our mission remains unchanged: meeting Californians where they live, work, and gather to close the coverage gap and build healthier communities for all across Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, San Diego, Fresno, and every corner of our state. 🧡 #ForTheLoveOfCalifornians

  • Nearly 11% of California adults live with diabetes—and many more don’t know they’re at risk. Early screening helps you take control of your health before symptoms appear, and screenings are fully covered when recommended by your in-network doctor. ✅Know your numbers—blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure—and stay proactive about your future. Talk to your doctor about your risk for diabetes, especially if you have a family history of diabetes or are 35 or older.

  • Southern California’s spirit of connection was on full display in #SanDiego, where we joined local leaders and residents dedicated to building healthier communities from the ground up—one conversation, one connection at a time. The city’s vibrant diversity reflects the strength of its neighborhoods, each with its own story, energy, and commitment to advancing community health. 🧡 ✨ We began our day at City Heights Family Health Center, one of the nation’s top federally qualified health centers and among the ten largest community clinic organizations nationwide. Their commitment to accessible, community-based care mirrors our mission to ensure all Californians—of every age and background—can access coverage. We were honored to be joined by Victoriano Diaz, Director of Patient Engagement and Enrollment at Family Health Centers of San Diego, and Mayra E Alvarez, President of The Children's Partnership (TCP), to explore culturally responsive engagement and advancing child health equity through meaningful connection. ✨ Next, we visited El Carrito Restaurant, the iconic Barrio Logan landmark—a former 1930s streetcar turned community hub. El Carrito symbolizes the neighborhood’s transformation from displacement to cultural pride, standing steps away from Chicano Park, home to the world’s largest collection of Chicano murals. Owner Carolina Santana and her family carry that legacy forward, proving that trust and leadership at the local level create lasting change—the same foundation that drives our Connector Pledge. Our discussions here centered on reducing barriers for mixed-status families and connecting uninsured Latinos through cultural trust and community presence. ✨ We closed the day at The Mental Bar, a welcoming cafe in Encanto’s Black Arts and Culture District where coffee meets community, a gathering place rooted in creativity, care, and connection. We were joined by Dale Fleming, Community Impact Partner at San Diego Foundation, and Dr. Sharon Smith, President of the San Diego Black Nurses Association, to discuss their powerful work improving patient care and health equity across the region. Together, we’re keeping the momentum strong in our shared mission to connect Californians to the coverage and care they deserve. 🧡 #ForTheLoveOfCalifornians

  • From neighborhood hubs to advocacy centers, #Sacramento showed the power of connection as we continued our #OpenEnrollment tour across the state, helping Californians find the coverage and care they deserve. ✨ We began the day at Community HealthWorks, an organization whose goal is to remove obstacles and empower people to have an equal opportunity to be healthy and lead a life of dignity. Since 1998, they’ve been a trusted connector to community resources, making them an ideal partner on our Open Enrollment tour. We were joined by community advocates and Congresswoman Representative Doris Matsui, who has represented Sacramento since 2005. Congresswoman Matsui spoke to the importance of connection and community in ensuring health access for all, “The connection with Covered California has been so fundamental to California, its success in reaching people and providing the best possible care for its citizens.” ✨ Next, we visited Disability Rights California, the state’s largest nonprofit legal services provider for people with disabilities. Their advocacy and leadership continue to inspire us as we work together to make quality health coverage accessible to every Californian. Because when coverage is accessible, care becomes accessible. ✨ We ended the day at Classy Hippie Tea Co., a Black-owned tea house and cultural haven for the African American community in Sacramento’s historic Oak Park neighborhood, a place where trust and community are built over conversation and shared experience. Here, Jessica Altman, Executive Director of Covered California, S. Monica Soni, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Covered California, and Dawnté Early, PhD, MS, President and CEO of United Way California Capital Region, led a thoughtful discussion on advancing health equity for Black Californians and how connection continues to be the foundation of our mission. Our heartfelt thanks to our partners — California Foundation for Independent Living Centers (CFILC), WarmLine FRC, OCA Sacramento, Small Business Majority, leaders from Francisco J. Silva, Esq., MBA of the California Primary Care Association, Eric Harris and Conrad Crump of Disability Rights California, for making this day possible. Each represents a powerful community voice, and together they showed how inclusion and collaboration strengthen access for all. #ForTheLoveOfCalifornians

  • #OpenEnrollment continues across California, and our Kickoff Tour made its next stop in #SanFrancisco, where leaders and residents from across the Bay Area came together to highlight the importance of access to quality, affordable health coverage for every Californian. 🧡  ✨ Our first stop was inside the historic San Francisco #FerryBuilding, where the Book Passage sits at the heart of a bustling marketplace filled with local vendors, commuters, and visitors, a space that truly brings people together. We were honored to be joined by Speaker Emerita #NancyPelosi, the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House, who held the role when the #AffordableCareAct became law in 2010, a landmark achievement that has helped millions of Americans gain health coverage.  ✨ Moved our way to the heart of #Chinatown, the Hang Ah Tea Room, the oldest tea house in the country, that has brought generations of Asian American families together for more than a century. One of our speakers, @Lamar Heystek, shared what health coverage means to immigrant communities:  “We immigrants came to this country in pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness and the first of these is #life. To truly live, we must be healthy, and to be healthy, we need access to health insurance. We thank #CoveredCalifornia for providing affordable, quality health coverage for our community.”  ✨ At the heart of the Southeast Community Center is Hungry Café, a #BlackOwned business and vibrant hub that brings residents together and stands as a symbol of resilience and community pride. We joined a conversation moderated by Shakirah Simley of the Booker T. Washington Community Service Center, featuring Shanell Williams of the Rafiki Coalition for Health and Wellness, to celebrate the spirit of showing up for one another physically, mentally, and emotionally to help keep our neighborhoods healthy.  ✨At our final stop, Instituto Familiar de la Raza, founded nearly fifty years ago out of the Chicano activism movement as a #mentalhealth clinic advocating for culturally responsive care for San Francisco’s Hispanic and Latino communities. Our conversation continued with community leaders signing our Connector Pledge to help ensure Latino communities have access to care.  These partnerships are powered by the heartbeat of community and bring us closer to the people we serve to discuss the issues that matter most this Open Enrollment.  Thank you to our connectors for joining us: Jessica Altman, David Campa, MD, MPH, Dr Albert Lawrence Kwansa, CEO of St. Anthony Foundation; Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi; Daniel Tsai Director of the San Francisco Department of Public HealthLance Toma CEO of SF Community Health Center;  Philippine Nurses Association of Northern California, Inc. California, ASIAN, Inc., Amplifi Napa Valley, Korean Community Center of the East Bay (KCCEB) Bay, Center for Asian American Media, University of California, San Francisco, and Asian Health Services#ForTheLoveOfCalifornians
