The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation mourns the passing of Dr. Kim L. Isaacs, a distinguished leader in inflammatory bowel disease care, research, and education. She was a longtime member of our National Scientific Advisory Committee and played an instrumental role in mentoring future specialists through the Foundation’s Visiting IBD Fellows Program. Dr. Isaacs was Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she served in multiple leadership roles, including Co-Director of the IBD Center, Program Director for the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship, and Director of Endoscopy. Her contributions improved the lives of countless patients and inspired the IBD community across the country. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Dr. Isaacs’s family, colleagues, and patients, and to all touched by her legacy.
