It should be noted that getting a status extended is not a mere formality. USCIS will have to make a determination that the E-2 Treaty Investor and the enterprise continue to meet the requirements. It is worth noting that while the E-2 status is a nonimmigrant status, it can be extended indefinitely in increments of two years.
