Providing Retreat for DeafBlind Adults for 20 Years.

About us

DBAS Retreat is a non-profit organization with an all-volunteer staff. Our retreat, held every two years, allows DeafBlind adults to get together, share their experiences, and discuss their educational and technological needs. This event provides an invaluable experience for the participants and an opportunity to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones. DBAS activities and workshops require the assistance of Support Service Providers (SSPs) who serve as sighted guides, communication facilitators, and interpreters. Even though the DeafBlind Guests cover their room and board, we still need to raise an additional $20,000 to cover food and lodging expenses for the sixty SSPs who volunteer their time and expertise to make the retreat possible. There are numerous other expenses, such as transportation, speaker fees, special equipment for the attendees, etc. We have a talented team who work on their own time and their own dime to make this event happen. But we need to do extensive fundraising using every channel available. LinkedIn is one more way to get the word out about the work we do for adults who are deaf-blind and desire an opportunity for a camp/retreat to have new experiences with their peers, facilitated by Support Service Providers.
