Did you know? 80% of community college students aspire to earn a bachelor's degree, but only 14% do so within six years. Black & Latinx students are disproportionately affected. It’s time to close the gap, #ChangetheOdds & support all students in achieving the future they deserve. #NationalTransferWeek #whywedothiswork

Next week is National Transfer Student Week! We’re kicking off the week with a luncheon at John Jay College to celebrate our Transfer Champions. We'll present findings from our recent study in partnership with The Research Alliance for New York City Schools, which examines the student-identified factors that contribute to John Jay’s distinction as The City University of New York college with the highest graduation rate for transfer students of color. There’s still time to join us and hear directly from our student panel as they share about their own transfer experiences. We hope to see you there!

This week our team returned to Albany with @cunyrising @younginvincibles @nypirg @psc_cuny @usscuny and other coalition members for #highereducationactionday We rallied on the Million Dollar Staircase, met with more than 100 state legislators for more equitable higher education funding and policies. Our collective priorities included FREE & FULLY FUNDED CUNY & SUNY; free Student Metro/Omni cards; increased financial aid & opportunity programs; basic needs services (food & housing security, mental health services & emergency aid for students); and increased numbers of faculty and administrators. We also shared information on why NYS needs a State Longitudinal Data System #SLDS Next stop, Washington, DC! #whywedothiswork #EducationEquity #DegreesNYC
