  • Meet Connie, one of District 202’s amazing facility dogs! This school year, Connie has been kicking it in P.E. classes playing soccer, visiting sixth-grade study halls, and helping students learn about the important role she plays at Drauden Point Middle School. Her handler, Miriam. Neugebauer says Connie has also provided countless moments of smiles, love, and pets to both students and staff — and we believe it! Thank you, Connie, for making school a little brighter every day!

  • A round of applause for Grand Prairie Elementary School’s amazing facility dog, Simi, who celebrated her sixth birthday on October 11th! District 202 is so grateful for all the amazing things she - and her handler social worker Melissa Cox - does for our students at Grand Prairie. She brings so much joy and calm, from listening to students read to offering extra support and love when needed. And the students give back with lots of belly rubs, head scratches, and pets on a daily basis! She even made an appearance at the school’s field trip to Starved Rock! We love you, Simi!

  • Did you know District 202 has eight facility and service dogs working hard in our elementary, middle, and high schools? These furry teammates do more than just look cute — they’re making a real impact on students and staff every single day! Let’s check in with Royal from Ira Jones Middle School and her handler, Kelly Larson, to see what she’s been up to this school year. Royal has been splitting her time between Ira Jones and Wallin Oaks Elementary, supporting both schools with her calm presence and wagging tail. She recently helped Ira’s 8th-grade reading buddies read to 1st graders at Wallin Oaks — talk about teamwork! She even ran the Eagle Dash and gave a little piece of herself to science… literally! Seventh-graders used her blonde fur in a microscope lab activity. Now that’s what we call giving 110% on the job! Thank you, Royal, for your paws-itively amazing work!

  • Meet Chloe — PNHS’s Favorite Four-Legged Staff Member! At 8 years young, Chloe proudly holds the title of the most veteran facility dog in District 202! She “works” in the Student Services office, spending her days soaking up pets from students and staff (between her well-earned naps, of course). Chloe lives with her handlers, Dan and Kristen Foreman, both Social Studies teachers. She loves taking walks around the building, visiting classrooms, and showing off her signature “spin” trick that always brings smiles. And every day, she makes sure to stop by and see her favorite teacher friend, Dr. Agnes Burgwald, for a healthy salmon treat! Big shoutout to PNHS Digital Photography students Daniel Conley, Ella Dwyer, Finley Kimmes, Bella Nuccio, and Evelyn Roe for these amazing photos — and and to their incredible art teachers for the guidance and creativity!

  • Drauden Point Middle School Learning Specialist Melissa Grave is hosting a before/after-school book study group about executive functioning and how teachers can better support students. The study group is optional. One example of how District 202 teachers go above and beyond for their students and their own professional learning. We are #202proud of Melissa Grave and those teachers taking the initiative to better themselves and be present for their students.
