We’re taking flight with Santa Cruz Gives! 💫 This holiday season, join us in supporting Women Taking Flight – Mujeres Emprendiendo Vuelo, a loan fund that opens access to capital for Latinx women entrepreneurs in Santa Cruz County. Did you know that only 3–5% of small business loans go to Latinx women nationally? Together, we can change that. Wow! Demo Day was amazing! It meant so much to share my parents’ story with our community. Their bakery changed the course of my life and helped send all nine of my siblings to college. That’s why my work at El Pajaro is so personal to me. I’ll be honest, I was terrified to pitch. But I did it. I made an intentional decision to step out of my comfort zone. It wasn’t easy, but I kept breaking barriers and finding my voice. Even if it was shaking. This journey and the courage it took wouldn’t have been possible without Veronica Vences at the Latino Community Foundation and our incredible Accelerator coaches Meredith Fenton, Masha V. Chernyak, and Nikko. Thank you for helping me go after our big dreams. For pushing us, with love, to be bold. Now we are ready to fly! If you’re inspired by what we’re doing at El Pájaro Community Development Corporation, come join us for our Winter Market on December 6th! You can buy holiday gifts from our amazing local vendors and support our vision Latino Community FoundationMasha V. Excitement is building up! Honored to be part of this remarkable group of organizations and leaders!
I'm so excited (and incredibly honored) to be a Judge for the Latino Community Foundation's amazing Demo Day next week! This sold-out event is one of my favorite all year--a joyful celebration of impressive nonprofits led by brilliant Latino leaders making a real different in their communities. Like all LCF events, the experience is imbued with warmth, colorful delights, musical enjoyment, delicious bites, inspiration, hope, laughter, and love.
