This month, we're proud to spotlight Shirley Schulz, a New Business Specialist here at EquiTrust. Since joining EquiTrust in 2017, Shirley Schulz has been a dedicated member of the New Business team. She began in Create Client and Contract Data and has since learned multiple queues across the department. Along the way, she’s trained new employees, shared her knowledge, and proudly served as an EquiTrust Ambassador five times — a reflection of her commitment to teamwork and excellence. “Working at EquiTrust, my supervisors have shown me that I’m an asset to the team,” Shirley shared. “They trust me with special projects and are always there for me. I’m inspired daily — always positive and learning something new each day. I love working at EquiTrust!” Shirley appreciates the many learning tools available to employees, especially Absorb, which she’s used extensively to enhance her skills. She also values the written procedures and TEAMS communication platform that help her stay informed and connected with colleagues across the company. Outside of work, Shirley and her husband love to travel — from Florida and the Carolinas to Las Vegas and California — often driving so they can enjoy the scenery along the way. They share their adventures with their Tuxedo cat, Dexter, and cherish time spent with their two sons, two daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren. With Veterans Day this month, Shirley reflects proudly on her family’s connection to service through her oldest son, Jereme, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Jereme graduated from boot camp in 2004 and served in Fallujah, Iraq, during active combat in 2008. His ten years of service — much of it in military intelligence — took him from California and Florida to North Carolina before he medically retired as a Staff Sergeant. “Saying that we’re proud of Jereme just doesn’t express how it feels in our hearts,” Shirley said. “We missed him so much when he was deployed, but we were always thrilled when he came home on leave.” Jereme has since settled in Iowa, continuing his education in Ames. Shirley credits his courage, work ethic, and perseverance as daily reminders of the importance of dedication — values she carries with her every day at EquiTrust. Thank you, Shirley, for your continued contributions to EquiTrust and for sharing your inspiring story.
