Firelands Health is proud to recognize Dianna Acierto as our August Volunteer of the Month. Dianna has been a volunteer since she began serving at the Information Desk in April 2021. She is a native of Sandusky and lives with her husband, Richard. Together, they’ve raised two children and are proud grandparents to five wonderful grandchildren. In her free time, Dianna enjoys reading, tackling Sudoku puzzles, and exploring home design and landscaping projects. She brings with her a wealth of experience from a 42-year career in education, having served as both a teacher and curriculum director at Perkins Local School District and Edison Schools. A committed community member, Dianna is also active in several organizations, including P.E.O., the College Women’s Club, and the Retired Teachers Association. One of Dianna’s favorite parts of volunteering is reconnecting with former students and colleagues—it brings her joy when past students recognize her from their 4th and 5th grade classrooms. She also treasures working alongside the information desk team, describing them as kind, compassionate, and a pleasure to serve with. Thank you, Dianna, for your unwavering commitment and the positivity you bring to Firelands Health. We are grateful for all you do.

To kick off the school year, Firelands Children’s S.P.O.T. hosted a "Back to School" raffle. Children and their families had fun guessing how many school supplies—including crayons, erasers and paper clips—were packed into a giant jar. The prize was assistance with school supplies for the 2025-2026 academic year. We'd like to congratulate our winner, Kenny Ernsberger, who guessed 540, just 57 away from the actual count of 597.
