Behind every high-performing cyber team, in my view, is a deliberate strategy built on curiosity, continuous learning, and a willingness to invest in talent. I recently had the opportunity to share my perspective in this GIAC Certifications case study, which highlights innovative approaches to developing unconventional, high-impact cybersecurity talent. In the interview, I discussed how blending certifications, hands-on experience, and mission-driven alignment can help teams strengthen their capabilities — an approach I’ll also expand on during my upcoming talk at the SANS Institute Hack & Defend Summit 2025 on scaling purple team insights to better protect the mission.
