Our Chief Mission Officer, Clayton P., shared his perspective in the Chicago Sun-Times on the role of employment in reengaging Chicago’s teens. Clayton's key takeaway is simple: Workforce development programs must be local and adapt to meet the unique needs of youth across the city. Each month, our employees take part in activities that extend beyond our mission and strengthen our social impact. In June, we partnered with Junior Achievement of Wisconsin to support education and literacy. Fifteen volunteers dedicated over 87 hours to guide students from three Milwaukee Public Schools through hands-on business operations. Volunteers helped students take on various business roles such as managing daily tasks, earning paychecks and even shopping at different businesses with their earnings. Together, our team made a positive impact on 115 students. We’re excited to continue building connections with local organizations. Stay tuned to see what’s next! #WeAreGoodwill #ActsOfGoodwill

In May, our Goodwill volunteers dedicated their time and energy to fighting hunger in our communities. On May 6, nine employees volunteered at the Northern Illinois Food Bank in Lake County, contributing a total of 18 hours. Together, they sorted 17,000 pounds of apples into five-pound bags – enough to benefit 14,166 people in the community. On May 14, six employees spent 18 hours volunteering at the Shalom Center in Kenosha. They distributed groceries curbside to community members and veterans in need, serving 153 vehicles. With an average of four people per household, this effort potentially supported over 600 individuals. On May 27, seven employees returned to the Northern Illinois Food Bank to sort, clean and package 3,200 cans of produce – the equivalent of 2,670 meals. Their efforts totaled 17.5 volunteer hours. These moments remind us that when we work together, we can create a meaningful, lasting impact in the communities where we live, work and serve. #WeAreGoodwill #ActsOfGoodwill
