For decades, protection engineers have been at the heart of grid safety, designing systems that save lives, reduce outages, and restore power when it matters most. Until recently, the industry has focused almost entirely on electrical signals. But mechanical signals, especially, vibration and acoustic signals, offer a different kind of visibility. Electrical signals tell you 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 has happened. Mechanical signals tell you 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩, 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚, and 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙗𝙖𝙙. I’ve long admired Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL)'s products, people, and culture of service.
