🎳 Strikes, spares, and plenty of smiles! The Northeast team of Hawkins Parnell & Young, LLP traded briefs for bowling balls at our holiday gathering at Lucky Strike in Times Square. While some of our bowling scores may not reflect our legal skills, the camaraderie, laughter, and good cheer were undeniable. Between frames, we shared stories, enjoyed great food, and strengthened connections—celebrating all we accomplished this past year and rolling confidently into the next one together. A new report shows that civil litigation increased significantly in the Atlanta area last year and has continued to grow in 2025. Martin Levinson, a partner with Hawkins Parnell and incoming president of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, was quoted in an Insurance Journal article about the increase in lawsuits filed in Georgia and the possible relationship to tort reform. Last week, we completed the second session of Hawkins Parnell's Fall 2025 Trial Academy in Atlanta. We brought together experienced partners of our Product Liability and Mass Torts Group — including Todd Alley (Atlanta), Jessica Burgasser (Buffalo), Mike Hart (St. Louis), and Douglas Simek (Dallas) — for a full day of mock exercises, including expert cross-examinations and closing arguments in an asbestos trial. Led by partners Matthew Barr and David Marshall, the Trial Academy emphasizes hands-on experience, mentorship, and peer learning. Managing Partner Peter York and several of the firm's other first-chair trial lawyers observed and provided individual feedback to each participant. Developing trial skills is at the core of what we do. We are proud to invest in the continued growth of our litigators at every level.
