My Side or Both Sides? In a world increasingly divided by opinion (not facts), the ability to appreciate both sides of a position are more valuable than ever. It's not about agreeing with everything; it's about understanding. When we approach differing perspectives with “seek to understand” perspective, rather than judgment, we open the door to dialogue, insights, and partnership. A mindset to appreciate both sides of a position, cultivates empathy. It challenges us to step out of our own echo chambers and see the world through someone else’s lens. This is especially powerful in business, leadership, and community work, where understanding different motivations and viewpoints leads to better problem-solving and collaboration. It also strengthens critical thinking. When we consciously to commit to examine the merits or flaws of different perspectives, we refine our reasoning and create balanced arguments. We’re less likely to fall into the trap of confirmation bias and more likely to reach conclusions that are rooted in logic and evidence—not emotion alone. Moreover, this mindset promotes respect. Even when agreement isn’t possible, recognizing the validity of another’s experience fosters trust and civility—two things I often see missing in many conversations today. In short, appreciating both sides of an argument doesn’t weaken your stance—it enhances it. It shows maturity, intellectual humility, and a genuine desire to learn. In a polarized world, those who listen well and think broadly will always stand out—for the right reasons. So, the next time you're confronted with a view you don’t share, pause and ask: “What experience shaped your position” and see what you learn!

How to Leverage Your LinkedIn Network for Your Next Job Search: Your LinkedIn network can be one of your most powerful tools when navigating your next career move — use it intentionally. Start by updating your profile with a clear, keyword-rich headline, an engaging summary, and your most recent accomplishments. Let your network know you're open to opportunities by enabling the “Open to Work” feature (privately or publicly). Next, reconnect with your contacts. Reach out to former colleagues, mentors, or classmates with a friendly message—no hard pitch, just genuine connection. Let them know what kind of roles you’re exploring and ask if they’re open to chatting or can keep you in mind. Engage with content regularly. Comment on posts, share industry insights, or write about your job search journey. This keeps you visible and top of mind within your network. Don't hesitate to ask for referrals or introductions to hiring managers at companies you're targeting. People are more willing to help than you might think—especially when you're clear and specific about what you're looking for. Finally, join LinkedIn groups and follow companies you're interested in. This helps expand your visibility and opens the door to meaningful conversations with industry peers and recruiters alike.
