John will oversee all Finance & Accounting functions within our organization (Corporate & Hotels) as well as our vendor and parent company partnerships. A native of Alexandria, Virginia, John brings over 30 years of operational and financial leadership experience. He holds a BA from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and earned his MBA with an emphasis in Accounting and CMA certification from the University of Colorado / Colorado Technical University. John’s career spans both Fortune 50 companies and tech startups, including his most recent role as SVP of Finance & Technology at Crescent Hotels & Resorts. He is also a proud U.S. Navy veteran, having completed multiple combat tours and earning several honors, including the Bronze Star. On October 9th, we celebrated 125 years of The Union Station Nashville with an unforgettable evening, a tribute to the station’s original opening day in 1900. From aerial performers and a live jazz band to a vintage newspaper stand dating back to 1886, every moment honored our storied past while looking toward the future with the unveiling of The Trestle, our newest event space tucked just beneath Broadway. Guests enjoyed an exclusive, invitation-only celebration, where historic artifacts and items, many showcased for the first time, were delicately shared, connecting Nashville’s history with its vibrant present. This milestone was made possible by the incredible time, effort, and passion our team has poured into this year, and through the support of our valued partners: The HM Alpha Team, Stones River Group, Nashville Yards, Nashville Steam, Royal Productions, the Tennessee State and Metro Archives, Tennessee Central Railway Museum, and our fantastic photographer Sam Calderon. A heartfelt thank-you to Elvira Skomorowska and Esther White, the core pillars behind making this night possible, and to all who attended for helping make the celebration as special, lively, and full of history as the building itself. We decided to open the hotel during one of the most challenging times our industry has ever encountered. We were dealing with COVID 19, and nobody could have ever imagined the impact a global pandemic would have. Needless to say, the hotel operated very differently – we had Plexiglas at the front desk and the beautiful smiles from our team were covered by masks. Fast forward to 2025 ! We are now operating the most successful hotel in Nashville. You have built a powerhouse in hospitality. You have helped allowing us to win multiple awards in our young age. Starting at “Best New Hotel by USA Today”, “Best Meeting Hotel in North America by Cvent” two years in a row, twice “NFL AFC Hotel of the Year”, “HM Alpha Hotel of the Year” as well as multiple service awards like “Hyatt Platinum Hotel”. You fill our hotel with a heart and soul. You build incredible connections with our guests which allows us to be in the top 10 of Grand Hyatt hotels within the Americas. A special thank you goes to our 25 colleagues who will complete 5 years of service this year as well as Mr Gideon Packianathan, SHRM- SCP and Mr David Hearst, MBA, CRME, CHIA who are the only remaining senior leaders from the opening team.
