This fall, the BELIEVE Schools Network celebrated the ribbon-cutting for a newly renovated facility in St. Louis to house BELIEVE STL Academy (BELIEVE Academy). Launched for the 2024-2025 school year, the school initially served 220 students in grades 9-11 in a leased incubator space. In its new facility, which was acquired with the help of an IFF loan, the school will be able to serve 440 students in grades 9-12! BELIEVE Academy’s permanent facility is located near the original incubator site and in close proximity to strategic partners like BJC HealthCare, St. Louis Community College, Saint Louis University, and Harris-Stowe State University—strengthening opportunities for collaboration and student pathways. The Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLBank) system provides member institutions with a reliable, low-cost source of liquidity to support housing finance and community investment across the country. That capital comes in the form of “advances” that function as flexible loans, and through the Affordable Housing Program (AHP), which enables member institutions to apply for grants that are passed through to affordable housing developers to subsidize the cost of their projects. Through Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago's most recent AHP grant cycle, three projects supported by IFF received $4.4 million in funding that will help to create 120 new units of affordable housing in Illinois and Wisconsin.
