About us
Founded in 2009, the Indian Film Festival of Houston (IFFH) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that offers the diverse Houston community opportunities to learn about India's arts, culture, diversity and long history of film-making. The goal of our programming is to educate people about Indian cinema at large. We are proud of Bollywood, but Indian cinema has more to offer. Over the past 16 years, IFFH has screened over 100 films in more than 12 Indian languages, carefully curated from over 800 film submissions. Several films presented at the Festival have gone on to earn higher recognition on the international film circuit, including the Oscars. IFFH has also presented a retrospective on the birth centenary of Satyajit Ray. Through powerful storytelling, filmmakers drive positive change and contribute to a more empathetic, inclusive, and culturally rich society. IFFH was voted Best Film Festival of Houston-by-Houston Press. The films reflect on current cultural and socio-economic conditions and feature a variety of subjects like education, children, women, aging, physical ability, euthanasia, immigration, environment, animal care, self-identity and more. IFFH has established itself as an integral part of Houston’s art and entertainment culture, with Houston Press voting IFFH as the ‘Best Film Festival of Houston’. The event features quality film screenings, Q&A sessions with film makers, live cultural entertainment, food and networking opportunities.

Honoring a legacy that will forever be part of our story. 🤍 The Indian Film Festival of Houston is pleased to present the 2026 IFFH Lifetime Achievement Award to Jose Grinan, honoring his extraordinary career and lasting impact on our community. Beyond his remarkable broadcast career, Jose was also a dedicated IFFH Board Member whose leadership, kindness, and belief in the festival helped shape who we are today. We invite you to join us on February 27–28 to honor Jose’s legacy, celebrate the stories he championed, and gather as a community at this year’s festival. #IndianFilmFestivalHouston #HoustonFilm #HoustonEvents #HoustonCulture #HoustonMedia Melissa Wilson

A culinary experience rooted in craft and culture 🍽️✨ The Indian Film Festival of Houston is honored to welcome French Chef David Denis, who will be creating a special luncheon with French flair. Born and classically trained in France, Chef Denis refined his craft in Michelin-starred kitchens across Europe before bringing his vision to Houston. He is the founder of acclaimed restaurants including Le Mistral and Artisans Cuisine & Savoir-Faire and is a proud member of the prestigious Maîtres Cuisiniers de France. As we celebrate France—the birthplace of cinema—this luncheon highlights the connection between cuisine, culture, and storytelling. A conversation at the intersection of storytelling and global impact 🎬🌍 The Indian Film Festival of Houston is honored to collaborate with Producers Without Borders to present a special talk by the Founder, Kayvan Mashayekh and Glenn Gainor, Advisory Board Member of Producers Without Borders. An attorney-turned-filmmaker, Kayvan Mashayekh wrote, produced, and directed the epic independent film The Keeper: The Legend of Omar Khayyam, which premiered at the Moscow Film Festival and enjoyed a year-long U.S. theatrical run. Since founding Producers Without Borders, he has built a global network of producers and creatives, championing cross-border collaboration at festivals and industry markets around the world. Kayvan has also served in leadership roles with the Producers Guild of America and continues to advocate for culturally impactful and inclusive storytelling. #IndianFilmFestivalHouston #IFFH #IFFH2026 #FilmFestival #HoustonEvents #HoustonFilm #FilmIndustry #InternationalCinema #StoryTellers
