The team has been awarded a Grand Challenges Grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to advance early preeclampsia detection through cutting-edge research on the urinary biomarkers Activin A and Inhibin A - a meaningful step toward improving maternal health worldwide. This work builds on ongoing studies in Bloemfontein, South Africa, and will include new clinical cohorts in both Stellenbosch and Bloemfontein to better understand how early and accurately these biomarkers can signal preeclampsia risk.
