Earlier this month, our team in Aschaffenburg, Germany, took part in the 15th VDI Conference on Vehicle Safety in Berlin, chaired by Dr. Steffen Sohr, Vice President EMEA HQ Engineering & Research at JSS. With the theme “Vehicle Safety in the Context of Global Challenges,” JSS participated as both an exhibitor and a technical contributor alongside partners and experts from across the industry. Karsten Hallbauer, our senior manager of advanced regulatory affairs, presented “Consumer Protection Organizations as a Driving Force for Vehicle Safety,” co-authored with Ingo Kalliske, our center safety systems department lead. The presentation focused on evolving Euro NCAP requirements and how shorter development cycles are shaping occupant protection concepts. Additionally, Till Mante, core systems development engineer at JSS, presented “The Potential of Today’s Restraint System Components through Advanced Interior Sensing,” co-authored with Ingo Kalliske and Stefan Lehnert, global ISS engineering director at JSS. Their work showed how interior sensing can strengthen adaptive restraint strategies. The conference provided valuable opportunities to connect with peers and exchange ideas on the future of automotive safety. At our JSS Macedonia facility, our commitment to community service and corporate social responsibility was on full display during a recent child road safety awareness campaign in Kicevo’s primary schools. The initiative, conducted in coordination with the local police, brought essential traffic safety lessons to the town’s youngest citizens. Through interactive activities and hands-on demonstrations, students learned to recognize traffic signs, navigate pedestrian crossings and understand the importance of wearing a seatbelt. This month in Shanghai, JSS China was recognized with two major awards at the 7th annual Gasgoo Awards.   Our vital-sign monitoring steering wheel was recognized in the Top 100 Players of China's New Automotive Supply Chain for its ability to continuously track drivers' heart rate, respiration and fatigue levels while issuing real-time alerts for potential health risks or drowsiness. This technology represents our evolution from traditional component supplier to technology co-creator in China's intelligent mobility landscape.   We were also honored to receive the Best Overseas Expansion Practice Award, recognizing our global expansion, including brand building and localized R&D and manufacturing.   The Gasgoo Awards have become a benchmark for excellence in the rapidly evolving mobility sector, honoring outstanding companies and technologies driving innovation across the automotive supply chain. Recently, JSS received the Innovation Award from the Society of Plastic Engineers Central Europe, an honor granted every 1.5 years since 1992 by a jury of industry professionals and institutions. JSS was recognized for our innovative plastic components in our Pyrotechnic Battery Disconnect technology, designed to enhance safety in electric and hybrid vehicles.   The flame-retardant, high-performance sustainable material, provided by Akro-Plastic, provides the strength and durability needed for our design, which uses a pyrotechnic charge to accelerate a plastic projectile at over 140 meters per second to sever the electrical connection. This material withstands extreme temperatures, significant pressures and internal forces without fracture or long-term fatigue.   The awards ceremony brought together professionals to exchange ideas and promote future developments in sustainable engineering. We are proud to share that JSS Macedonia was recently recognized with the national award for the Best Occupational Health and Safety System by the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health of the Republic of North Macedonia. Recently, JSS Asia held its annual Management Development Program Manager Training Camp at its Minhang headquarters in Shanghai. Now in its sixth year, the two-week, full English program brought together 23 managers from China, Korea, Thailand and the Philippines. This two-week intensive program focused on enhancing leadership capabilities and strengthening cross-regional collaboration. Participants engaged in classroom learning, workshops and field studies, working to translate real business challenges into practical improvement actions. Our team in Piçarras, Brazil recently celebrated Safety and Environment Week, an initiative designed to raise awareness and reinforce our commitment to environmental management and workplace safety.
