High flow rates and taller resin beds can help improve the efficiency of downstream chromatography, but they often come with a trade-off: increased compression and higher pressure differentials that limit performance. In this study, we evaluated how an OMEGA column insert reduces the effective hydraulic radius of packed beds, increases column permeability by 44% to 73%, and decreases pressure differential by 42% to 50% at comparable linear velocities. Did you know one of our biggest Zero Waste champions is also a global leader in biotech? For years, Eco-Cycle has teamed up with KBI Biopharma to collect their single-stream recycling. But this partnership goes beyond the blue bin—together, we’re tackling the hard-to-recycle items, too—like lab plastics, plastic film, and Styrofoam—diverting these materials from the landfill and recycling them at the Eco-Cycle/City of Boulder Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials (CHaRM)! In 2024, KBI deepened their commitment to Zero Waste by becoming a Silver Sponsor through Eco-Cycle’s Business Partnerships Program. This year, we hosted a Zero Waste 101 workshop, giving the KBI team a behind-the-scenes look at how local recycling really works.
