As geopolitical challenges grow, so does the demand for smarter defence solutions. Enter NOMADS – a cutting-edge collaboration between Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, Forsvaret - Norwegian Armed Forces, and Forsvarsmateriell - Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency. NOMADS is a SHORAD (Short Range Air Defence) system designed for mobility and adaptability. Mounted on a highly manoeuvrable armoured vehicle, it integrates advanced command and control from the trusted NASAMS system with a passive seeker missile and a state-of-the-art AESA radar from Weibel Scientific in Denmark. This week, we welcomed Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Espen Barth Eide, accompanied by State Secretary Ms Maria Varteressian and Member of Parliament Mr Even Røed, to our facilities in Kongsberg. The visit included a tour of the NASAMS manufacturing area and a briefing on our deliveries to allies and partners, including ongoing support to Ukraine. The minister also received a broader insight into the systems and capabilities we develop and deliver across domains. Strengthening the dialogue between industry and government is important, especially in times of increased demand and shifting security needs. 🚀 KONGSBERG to deliver critical components for Ariane 6 We have signed a contract with ArianeGroup for the delivery of critical components for Europe’s next generation launch vehicle, Ariane 6. The agreement covers the supply of Optical Safety Barriers (OSB) and Upper Part Attachment (UPPA) mechanisms over the next three years. The new contract extends the long-standing collaboration between KONGSBERG and ArianeGroup, a French-German leader in space technology. Ariane 6 plays a key role in securing Europe’s autonomous access to space. Following its successful inaugural flight in July 2024, it has performed two commercial missions in March and August 2025 and is currently in the ramp-up phase. Development of Ariane 6 components began in 2016, and deliveries of OSB and UPPA units started in 2021. Industrial partnership fuels growth and readiness We have signed a new contract with Norautron for the delivery of components to various defence systems. The agreement, valued at NOK 500 million, marks a new phase in a partnership that has developed over more than a decade. With the new contract and the opening of modern production facilities in Horten Industripark, Norautron strengthens its position as a key contributor within Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace’s supplier network – and as a driver of growth in both industry and society. The agreement is expected to lead to the creation of 30 new jobs at Norautron. Our collaboration began in 2014, though ties with KONGSBERG date back further.
