LANWT is excited to announce the unveiling its new mobile office that will bring legal help to disaster-stricken areas in its 114-county service area. Thanks to funding from the Legal Services Corporation, LANWT’s response will be even faster using “Legal Aid Express,” which will expand post-disaster help by going directly to those in need rather than disaster survivors having to travel to a Legal Aid office for assistance. “The Legal Aid Express ensures we can more rapidly respond to a disaster area,” says LANWT CEO Maria Thomas-Jones. “This mobile vehicle is an invaluable tool for our staff to better serve people where they are." The unit is fully equipped with two confidential office suites, is wheelchair accessible, and includes the equipment and technology found in LANWT's brick-and-mortar offices, including laptops and printers/scanners. When not being used for disaster efforts, the vehicle will be used for disaster-related outreach and community education events.
