In early November, our team members volunteered through Better Communities to help Habitat for Humanity with exterior projects on two homes. Ten volunteers installed exterior handrails, siding, and lattice work to complete the finishing touches on these houses. These projects will ultimately make the dream of homeownership a reality for families in need. Kudos to our employees who stepped up to help this cause. In collaboration with our Better Communities give back program, our VETS Employee Resource Group has wrapped up its Operation Shoebox USA Donation Drive, and it was a smashing success! The VETS group empowers and embraces veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, and individuals with military members in their families. From mid-October to mid-November, VETS raised over $6,000 in monetary and physical good donations. Operation Shoebox USA provides care packages to our brave service members, showing appreciation to those serving abroad. Thank you to everyone who donated to Operation Shoebox. Did you know that the state of Connecticut’s trade with Mexico is larger than the entire United States’ trade with Greece?! Our Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Hoyt Webb, recently learned this fun fact. He had the opportunity to attend a luncheon with other Connecticut legal leaders. He got to meet Mexico’s U.S. ambassador, the Honorable Esteban Moctezuma, and Consul General of Mexico, Carlos Iriarte, head of the Boston consulate. Special thanks to Moy Ogilvie and James Kosch, co-hosts of the event at the Hartford offices of McCarter & English, LLP. Ambassador Moctezuma expertly outlined the points of common interest in the US – Mexico trade relationship and engaged in Q&A and lively discussion with meeting participants.  Hoyt was pleased to receive a special recognition from Bticino de México, with which both representatives said they were familiar! #LegrandImprovingLives
