About us
The Los Angeles Dodgers are a professional baseball team based in Los Angeles, California. The Dodgers are members of the National League West division of Major League Baseball (MLB). The team originated in Brooklyn, New York, where it was known by a number of nicknames before becoming the Dodgers definitively by 1932. The team moved to Los Angeles before the 1958 season. They played their first four seasons in Los Angeles at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum before moving to their current home of Dodger Stadium, the third-oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball (trailing Fenway Park and Wrigley Field). Since 2012, the Los Angeles Dodgers have been led by Guggenheim Baseball Management and a successful team of owners consisting of Mark Walter, Magic Johnson, Todd Boehly, Bobby Patton, Jr., Peter Guber, Billie Jean King and Ilana Kloss. Under this ownership group, the Dodgers have continued to set attendance records and achieved the team's first World Series championship in over 30 years. Andrew Friedman is the Dodgers’ President, Baseball Operations and the Manager is Dave Roberts, who recently agreed to a four-year contract to manage club through 2022. The Dodgers front office comprises approximately 300 full-time and 1,400 part-time employees. The Dodgers have won seven World Series titles and 21 National League pennants. Eight Cy Young Award winners have pitched for the Dodgers, winning a total of ten Cy Young Awards (both MLB records). The team has also produced 12 Rookie of the Year award winners, including four back-to-back from 1979–1982 and five back-to-back from 1992–1996, the longest consecutive streaks in Major League Baseball. 💜 Spirit Day Is Here — We Remember Billy Bean💜 We wear purple. Not just as a color, but as a promise. A promise to stand up for kindness. A promise to support and protect LGBTQ+ youth. A promise to continue the work of those who made courage contagious, like Billy Bean. His legacy reminds us that real strength comes from being seen and from helping others feel seen, too. As summer winds down and the seasons begin to change, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the incredible events our Community Relations team brought to life over the past few months. From baseball clinics to back-to-school initiatives, the Dodgers created lasting memories and meaningful impact all summer long. Take a look at what our team has been up to! ☀️ Back-to-School Resource Fair The Los Angeles Dodgers partnered with General Mills to host a Back-to-School Resource Fair for 500 LAUSD students and their families. Attendees received school supplies, shoes and pantry staples to take home. Free dental screenings and haircuts were also offered to make sure students went back to school with confidence. Dodger players were also on-hand to help distribute items and spend time with the kids. ☀️ Check Your Heart Event In July, the team welcomed 25 LAUSD student-athletes and their families for an unforgettable day at the stadium. Students met Third Base Coach Dino Ebel and pitcher Tony Gonsolin, who both shared tips on baseball fundamentals and the importance of keeping a strong, healthy heart. To top it off, each student received a free heart screening provided by Who We Play For, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing sudden cardiac death in youth. ☀️ Law Enforcement Appreciation Day Last month, the Dodgers celebrated Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at Dodger Stadium. In a moving tribute, the families of five fallen officers from the Sheriff’s Department, LAPD, and Baldwin Park PD were invited onto the field for a special recognition of their loved ones’ service and sacrifice. Earlier that same week, the Dodgers also surprised officers at a nearby station with a luncheon and joined in celebrating an officer’s upcoming retirement. ☀️ Langdon Literacy Corner & LA Reads Dodgers All-Star catcher Will Smith joined students at Langdon Elementary for the third and final 2024 World Series Legacy project unveiling. In partnership with Will and Cara Smith’s Catching Hope Foundation, the Dodgers and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation unveiled an outdoor literacy space for students. Will & Cara then surprised students with a special Storytime reading. ☀️ Pitch, Hit, Run The Dodgers were proud to host MLB’s annual Pitch, Hit & Run clinic at Dodger Stadium, where 150 young athletes had the chance to showcase their baseball and softball skills at this free community event. Participants were selected from local clinics, with top performers earning the opportunity to advance to championships at MLB ballparks across the country. From there, winners will compete for the ultimate prize, a chance to take the field at the 2025 World Series.
