“As a future homeowner, I plan to use my training to take tasks into my own hands. Thanks to All Within My Hands Foundation (Metallica) and the Lowe’s Foundation, I can focus on classwork and buy the tools I need to succeed.” After nearly a decade as a home caregiver, Dominique made a bold pivot: She enrolled at College of Lake County an All Within My Hands Foundation (Metallica) and Lowe’s Foundation partner. She is studying HVAC Engineering Technology. As a mother, Dominique will gain skills to shape her family’s future while showing her 8-year-old daughter what resilience looks like in real time. With tuition and equipment covered through the #GableGrant, Dominique is training for a new career.

Huge shoutout to our #GableGrants Captain on the ground, SUNSHINE BROWN and her team for showing up with purpose and partnership during unCommon Construction’s Build Day. This day was a glimpse into what’s possible when local leaders and community organizations unite to invest in the next generation of skilled trades professionals. 💪🛠️#LowesFoundation
💙 Big love to our amazing volunteers from Lowe's Foundation’s and our community who came out for a special Build Day! This wasn’t our usual day with apprentices—but it was just as powerful. Together, volunteers put together furniture, knocked out projects across the campus, and got a real feel for our hands-on approach. Thanks to their energy and teamwork, our new space is one step closer to being ready for youth and future programming. 🙌✨ We’re so grateful for the time, care, and laughter you brought to the jobsite—you truly helped us build something special! 💪🏽🏠 Want to join the fun? “20 years from now, I’d like to own my own land and construction company for my family. I want to build a barn and provide a playground for my kids and sheltering areas for the animals.” Meet Jonathan Cabello, 24, a student at Texas Adult Education. Through NCCER, a Lowe’s Foundation partner, Jonathan has gained essential technical skills and knowledge from classmates and industry professionals, including guest speakers from Lowe's. “It was so valuable hearing directly from people in the industry,” he says. Jonathan discovered construction while helping his uncle renovate a home. That experience lit a spark and seeing family and friends thrive in the trades made him believe it could be a real path forward. Now, thanks to support from NCCER, he is building skills, learning from experienced peers and dreaming big.

We are honored to announce our partnership with Hiring Our Heroes and the launch of its Skilled Trades Academy. We were joined by Lowe’s EVP of Stores, Joe McFarland, who shared his perspective as a Marine and Gulf War and Desert Storm veteran, “Helping service members make the transition to civilian life, while also tackling the skilled trades shortage just makes sense,” said Joe McFarland, Lowe’s executive vice president of stores. “The team at Hiring Our Heroes has a great vision for doing both right here in Eastern North Carolina, and we’re excited to support this new training hub for the military community.” Hiring Our Heroes is dedicated to helping U.S. veterans find fulfilling careers in the skilled trades. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to those who have served, and we’re deeply grateful to support their next chapter. Big news for the military community in North Carolina! 👏 👏 👏
Helping service members make the transition to civilian life while also tackling the skilled trades shortage just makes sense. That’s why I’m proud to announce that Lowe's Companies, Inc. and the Lowe's Foundation are investing $500,000 in Hiring Our Heroes to build a Skilled Trades Academy near Camp Lejeune. Thank you to Store Manager Wayne Hart and his associates at store 556 in Jacksonville, NC for hosting this great event. Well done team!

Did you know that women make up less than 5% of the skilled trades workforce and just 11% of construction workers? #GableGrants recipients like Nontraditional Employment for Women are working to change that by opening doors, breaking down barriers, and training the next generation of tradeswomen. 🎥 Watch to see how they’re building the future of the trades. #SkilledTrades #WomenInConstruction #LowesFoundation #GableGrants

Super excited for these North Alabama Home Builders Academy graduates tonight. At Lowe’s we are helping fill the gap in the trades and NAHA was awarded a grant from Lowe’s to continue this good work. My team was there tonight to help celebrate them!

A big thank you to Alex Fregerio, Accelerate Montana’s Job-Site Ready mobile unit instructor, for joining us at #LFBuildingFutures. Alex highlighted the power of bringing hands-on training directly to communities across Montana; expanding access and opportunities by meeting people where they are. With the skilled labor gap contributing to a $10 billion annual loss in the housing industry, this kind of outreach is more critical than ever. #SkilledTrades #GableGrants #LowesFoundation
