The MeatEater crew is packing up and hitting the road this fall. We’ll be dropping in on some of our favorite hunting and fishing communities to swap stories, share food, and raise a little chaos in the parking lot. There’ll be wild game on the grill, a few games to keep things lively, and plenty of chances to walk away with something useful. Most important, it’s a chance to hang out face-to-face with folks who live this stuff every day. Come by, grab a plate, and spend some time with us. We’d be glad to see you there. Every now and then, the good guys win. Because of thousands of voices—yours included—millions of acres of public land were struck from the chopping block. The threat’s been erased from the bill. Not walked back. Not delayed. Erased. It’s the kind of victory that doesn’t make headlines, but it ought to. Because this wasn’t just about keeping some remote corner of the West intact. It was about defending an idea. That this land belongs to all of us. That access to wild places isn’t a luxury—it’s a right earned and protected by citizens willing to speak up. Teddy Roosevelt once said, “A vote is like a rifle: its usefulness depends upon the character of the user.” And this week, the American people proved their character. But let’s not mistake this for the end. This was one battle. There’ll be more. So take a moment. Step outside. Breathe it in. The land’s still ours—for now. Let’s keep it that way. Special thanks to our friends at Backcountry Hunters & Anglers & the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership who fought this fight with us everyday.

If your brand owes its existence to wild, public ground, now’s the time to show up for it. We’re talking to the companies that outfit hunters, anglers, hikers, and anyone who finds purpose in wild places. The ones who tell stories from the field, who make gear for the backcountry, and who’ve built their names on open access and public trust. Those lands—the ones your business depends on—are under threat. Again. This isn’t just another petition. It’s a stand. A chance to say we won’t let reckless politics carve up the wild places that define our work, our lives, and our future. We’re calling on every outdoor brand to sign on. Big or small. Loud or quiet. Show your backbone. Let the folks in Washington know this matters. Because when we lose public ground, we don’t get it back. Deadline is 5p ET to sign this. #BrandsForPublicLands
