Meet Brittany, a clinical manager at Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital, who has been recognized by the Texas Nurses Association District 9 as one of their Outstanding Nurse Honorees for 2025. Brittany's nursing career began in 2010 as a school nurse caring for students' health every day. Knowing she wanted to expand her clinical skills, Brittany transitioned to bedside nursing and joined Memorial Hermann in 2017 on the med-surg team. For almost a decade, Brittany has been focused on making a difference in the lives of her patients but has also discovered a passion for helping more nurses be confident and provide the highest quality of care. "I feel fortunate that leaders lean on me to help educate our staff on accountability, best practices and why they are important," she says. "There are so many opportunities to learn from like-minded individuals, collaborate with leaders and CNOs and grow from bedside to leadership." "Winning the Daisy Team Award in 2023 was one of the highlights of my career because it was something we could all celebrate together. Our team is also the only med-surg unit in Texas to win the Gold Beacon Award, the highest level of recognition in terms of nursing excellence and patient satisfaction. We were silver and we were able to move up and achieve gold. It took a lot of hard work, but nothing felt more rewarding than when we received the news and knowing we achieved it together." The Texas Nurses Association Outstanding Nurse Award honorees are nominated by peers. Brittany shares a unique passion for her med-surg team and credits this achievement to the team's collective effort. We are grateful to Brittany for inspiring others with her compassion and leadership.

Many veterans play an important role in our mission to create healthier communities. Today, on Veterans Day, we paused to pay tribute to these valued Memorial Hermann employees through special flag ceremonies and events at our campus locations across Houston. We salute these veterans for extending their dedication, courage and service beyond their military service to make a positive impact on our organization and in our communities. We thank them—and all veterans nationwide—for their service.
