Updates

  • At MnDOT, leadership starts with learning. This fall, participants in our Leadership Development Program expanded their knowledge of the agency and strengthened connections across teams through hands-on trainings and real-world experiences. From exploring technology like drones to understanding prairie restoration, participants gained a deeper understanding of how MnDOT’s many disciplines work together to serve Minnesotans. The Leadership Development Program empowers employees to grow their skills, build confidence and prepare for future opportunities—one learning experience at a time. If you’re looking for a place to advance your career while making a difference for Minnesotans, explore opportunities at MnDOT: mndot.gov/careers

    • Leadership Development Program participants in high visibility vests walk through the site in Bayport known as Blueberry Hill to learn about the Highway Sponsorship Program’s partnership with The Prairie Enthusiasts to restore the MnDOT right-of-way at that site to native prairie.
    • Leadership Development Program participants in high visibility vests and hard hats visit the project site of the I-90/Highway 52 interchange reconstruction.
    • Leadership Development Program participants watch an outdoor demonstration of a drone on a sunny day.
  • Minnesota’s roads connect more than places—they connect communities, people and opportunity. The newly opened Twin Ports Interchange in Duluth strengthens those connections by improving safety, replacing aging infrastructure and supporting freight movement through the area. The project reconnects I-35, I-535 and Highway 53, enhancing travel throughout the region. Congratulations to the MnDOT Northeast Minnesota team and all our partners who made this possible! 👏

  • Did you know MnDOT has archaeologists on staff? At this year’s Archaeology Day at Mille Lacs Kathio State Park, MnDOT archaeologists Amy Ollila and Matt Sitek shared how our Cultural Resources Unit helps preserve Minnesota’s history while planning for its transportation future. From helping kids piece together historic aerial photos to answering questions about careers in archaeology, Amy and Matt showed visitors how much history exists beneath our roads—and how MnDOT works to protect it. As Amy put it, “When [people] think MnDOT, they don’t think ‘archaeology.’ We wanted to show Minnesota and visitors what MnDOT does with archaeology.” We’re proud of the work our archaeologists do to balance progress and preservation across the state! 📷: Erin Fallon, Minnesota State Parks and Trails

  • Congratulations to Metro South Area Traffic Safety Engineer Almin Ramic, one of seven honorees at this year’s Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths Awards! 👏 Almin received the TZD Engineering Star Award for his commitment to improving safety on Minnesota roads. His work has helped deliver dozens of safety projects and millions of dollars in improvements across the south Twin Cities metro including J-turns on Highways 212 and 169 and the mini-roundabout corridor on Highway 316 in Hastings. These projects have been described as “transformational” and “a model for success.” The TZD Awards honor individuals and organizations dedicated to preventing traffic-related deaths and serious injuries on Minnesota roads. We’re proud to see Almin’s expertise and dedication recognized statewide—congratulations, Almin!
