It’s shaping up to be a busy September, and I’m excited to showcase how we at Monumental Sports & Entertainment are pioneering the future of sports and entertainment while connecting with leaders driving change across media, business, and culture.    Here’s where I’ll be:    🔔 Nasdaq in NYC  We’ll be ringing the opening bell together with our leadership team, spotlighting the vision we’re building at MSE and the ways we’re redefining the future of sports and media.    🛝 Monumental Sports Foundation's Playground Build in DC I’ll join my fellow MSE team members in this important community initiative, positively impacting the DMV’s youth.   🎤 Fireside Chat at Georgetown University I’ll be speaking to a group of young Latin American leaders and businesspeople alongside Reena Aggarwal at Georgetown University.   These upcoming events are a chance to both learn from others and share how we’re thinking about what comes next for our industry – whether that means new media innovation, deepening our ties to the community, or expanding the reach of our teams and partners. I’m excited for the conversations ahead and to speak to the bold vision we’re building at MSE.

Big news today as John Wall officially announced his retirement from the National Basketball Association (NBA).   John was a force on the Washington Wizards from the moment he stepped on the scene as the #1 draft pick in 2010. He was a player we all admired – from his speed, explosiveness, and distinct flair, to his deep connection and loyalty to the D.C. community.   Not only was he incredibly fast on the court, he was a tenacious and infectiously energetic competitor. As a teammate, he was the heart of the locker room and treasured mentor to the players he led to the playoffs four times. There was nothing like watching him and Bradley Beal in the backcourt… it was pure electricity.   As much as he made an impact on the court, John was a force of nature within the D.C. community. The John Wall Family Foundation advanced opportunities for youth education and development in the DC area. He was a frequent guest at children's hospitals, and not just for photo ops -- he spent quality time with kids and families, because he really cared.   John's presence as a standout athlete and stand-up community member made him the heart of DC basketball for ten years, and created a legacy that will last for generations. Wishing him the best of luck as he enters this next chapter.

Fifteen years ago, the Washington Wizards selected John Wall with the first overall pick out of Kentucky. We knew we were getting an elite point guard to join the Wizards ranks… and we ended up with so much more. Ten years of John Wall on the Wizards and a legacy to last a lifetime.   John was simply outstanding. In his time on the Wizards, he went from Rising Star in his rookie year to a five-time National Basketball Association (NBA) All Star. Alongside Bradley Beal, the dynamic duo led the team in four playoff runs. Our DC fans adored John for the player he was on the court and the person he is off of it.   We could all feel how much John genuinely loved DC – and The District loved him back. His investment in the community through his philanthropy events and youth basketball programs made a difference in the lives of so many… his loyalty, community involvement and passion went above and beyond what were expected, and we all loved him for it.   As the news breaks of John's retirement from the game, I know all of us in DC are sending him our well wishes and excited to see what's coming next.   Thanks for everything, John. On behalf of all of us at the Washington Wizards and Monumental Sports & Entertainment, congratulations on your retirement.
