About us
The Muckleshoot Indian Tribe’s name is derived from the native name for the prairie on which the Muckleshoot Reservation was established. Following the Reservation’s establishment in 1857, the Tribe and its members came to be known as Muckleshoot, rather than by the historic tribal names of their Duwamish and Upper Puyallup ancestors. Today, the United States recognizes the Muckleshoot Tribe as a tribal successor to the Duwamish and Upper Puyallup bands from which the Tribe’s membership descends.

Muckleshoot Casino Resort is deeply honored to be recognized as the 2025 William B. Bradford Minority Business of the Year by the UW Consulting & Business Development Center Impact Awards. 💜✨ The Bradford Business of the Year Award, given annually since 2000, celebrates businesses that demonstrate sustained success through excellence in customer service, strong support for employees, and meaningful community engagement. To be selected for this award is a privilege — and to receive it this year carries special significance. This honor marks the 10th anniversary of the UW Tribal Gaming and Hospitality Management Certificate Program, a program born from a request made by Muckleshoot Tribal Chair Virginia Cross at the 2013 UW Tribal Leadership Summit. Her vision was clear: create pathways for tribal members early in their careers to advance into front-line and middle-management roles. A decade later, we are proud to see that vision thriving and transforming futures. We also extend our respect to the award’s namesake, William Bradford, former Dean of the Foster School, whose research and leadership helped shape the Center’s mission and impact. Thank you to the University of Washington Consulting & Business Development Center for this prestigious recognition — and thank you to our team, the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, our guests, and our community for inspiring everything we do. 🫶💜
