Our friends at Airport Police Services called with some very important news… a tiny traveler just touched down at John Wayne Airport, Orange County! ✈️🚔 After a couple of delayed flights, holiday rush, you know how it is 🙄, Frankie the Elf is officially back for his annual watch at OC Sheriff. Of course, his first stop was to check in on the team that helped him land safely. Frankie did a little “elf-inspection” and we’re happy to report that Airport Police Services is on the Nice List this year. From keeping John Wayne Airport safe for residents and visitors, to providing dignitary protection for high-profile guests (including magical ones like Frankie), this team keeps holiday travel running smoothly. Stay tuned! Frankie’s just getting started on his December adventure to visit several of our OC Sheriff divisions!

Check out this behind-the-scenes look at a recent training session held for our Forensic Sketch Artist Team👀 Did you know that we have a team of highly trained forensic sketch artists here at OC Sheriff? Our forensic sketch artists play a vital role in solving crimes. When no video or photographs are available during an investigation, these talented artists use witness descriptions and investigative details to create lifelike sketches that help identify suspects and bring justice to the victims. ✏️🕵️♂️

Did you know that every day, our deputies start their shifts by gathering for a briefing meeting? It’s a great way to share important updates, discuss recent events, and make sure everyone is up to speed on new changes. These meetings help our team stay prepared to keep our community safe. Our K9 teams joined agencies from across the county at the Annual Orange County Police Canine Association (OCPCA) K9 Show to show off their skills! These demonstrations are a great way to showcase the bond between handlers and their K9 partners, while educating the community about what we do. It’s Red Ribbon Week! Red Ribbon Week has been around since 1985 and it’s the nation’s largest drug, alcohol, and violence prevention campaign in the nation. It honors the sacrifice of DEA Special Agent Kiki Camarena and continues to inspire communities to live drug-free and safe. Deputy Sanders from our Community Engagement Team is here to explain more.

After six months of intense training, discipline, and dedication, Basic Academy Class #266 graduated🚔🎓 55 recruits earned their badges today, 16 representing the Orange County Sheriff's Department. This month, our Family Protection Detail and several OC Sheriff partner cities are joining forces with Laura's House for the Domestic Violence Awareness Challenge💜🎗️ For week one, we’re wearing purple to show support and standing together for those who need it most.

Ever wondered what patrol looks like in Aliso Viejo? Deputy Clement handles anything from traffic stops to answering calls for service, and checking on suspicious vehicles. 💪 The team in Aliso always checks in on each other and works from dusk to dawn to keep the residents safe.

A community favorite, K9 Mac, has gone 10-7 (out of service) for the final time. 🐾🚔 Happy retirement K9 Mac and congratulations to (now) Sgt. McElwain! We wish Mac endless toys, belly rubs, and well-deserved couch naps. Thank you for your years of service!💚
