Joining Orion's own John Williams in celebrating the work of partnership building that makes Orion who we are. To these partners here and so many more - We’re so proud of the work being done across our community and the collective energy everyone brings! 🙌
This morning, I spent time with the Sound Reengagement Collaborative at Green River College in Kent, and it was one of those gatherings that reminds you why you stay committed to this work. Hearing partners talk honestly about threats to reengagement programs and then shifting toward what collective action could look like, felt energizing. Every person in that room showed up ready to protect young people’s pathways back into learning and opportunity. While I was there, the King County Promotores Network met here at Orion Industries. I made it back right as things were wrapping up, but even those last few minutes said so much about the power of community. Seeing everyone connecting, sharing resources, and building plans for winter reminded me how important it is to open our space to organizations that care deeply about multilingual families and culturally grounded support. Both events happened at the same time, but they carried the same heart. People coming together, choosing collaboration, and building something stronger for the communities we serve. Days like this fill me with a lot of gratitude for the circles I get to be part of and the work we are growing together. Grateful for a full day of sharing, learning, and connecting.

Meet Nate, our Mukilteo Participant of the Month! 🎉 Nate earned this recognition for the way he shows up: consistent, professional, and always ready to jump in wherever he’s needed. Having just completed the Mukilteo training program, he’s now gearing up for winter quarter at Edmonds College while exploring part-time job opportunities. We’re inspired by his drive and grateful to be part of his journey. Way to go Nate! 🌟

What happens when mentors take time to reflect on their own practice? Growth, for everyone involved. This week, our Mukilteo mentors gathered to talk about what mentoring feels like, what is working, and how our words shape confidence and belonging. Together we explored how language creates the reality it describes, and how the words we choose can build agency, trust, and community for every participant. As Peter Johnston reminds us, “The language we use with others affects the ways they think and act, and the ways they think and act affect who they are and who they become.” These moments of reflection and learning are at the heart of Orion’s mentor development. Next week, our Auburn mentors will continue the conversation, deepening our shared practice and commitment to growth through language, empathy, and reflection. #MentorDevelopment #LanguageMatters #BuildingCommunity #WorkforceLearning #OrionIndustries

Celebrating our very own Curriculum and Instruction Specialist, John Williams, who presented last week at the ALER Conference in Oklahoma City, as part of his pursuit of a Doctorate in Language and Literacy Education! John's roundtable, “Disrupting Spatial Norms and Boundaries,” examined how centering community knowledge leads to stronger, more equitable educational programs—work that mirrors Orion’s mission to create opportunity through training and employment. Well done, John! #ALERConference #Equity #CareerConnectedLearning #CommunityLiteracy
