Building Something Unique
About us
Orizon manufactures large complex structural components, provides metal finish processing, and fabricates major sub-assemblies for leading airframe manufacturers in the commercial aerospace, defense, space, and general aviation industries. The company’s investments in digitized systems/software, proprietary engineering/ programming techniques, advanced machine tools, and automated assembly technologies provides affordable solutions for the largest Aerospace and Defense manufacturers in the world. Orizon is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, with HUBZone Certified facilities in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. Orizon founders and our team have years of proven experience in the airframe manufacturing industry and understand what it takes to be successful. Our approach is focused on creating an interconnected team with a common mission. We operate on a model that emphasizes over-communication and the importance of daily metrics tied to aligned incentives. Orizon significantly enhances efficiencies and lowers costs and capital investment expenses for aircraft OEM’s by supplying monolithic, pre-assembled airframe sections. We employ highly advanced, high-speed 5-axis machining capabilities to produce large-scale, complex aluminum structures and assemblies. These include major airframe components, bulkheads, integrated structural panels, spars, skins, webs, floors, and other mechanical structures in dimensions as large as 248” x 98” x 28" with 30,000 RPM and 161 HP. All manufacturing operations are driven by sophisticated automation programs to ensure ultra-precision within exacting tolerances, as well as close monitoring for quality control in keeping with strict government requirements and regulations.

Big enough to make Boeing nod in approval! Orizon Aerostructures They took the best bits from several acquired companies, poured in a quarter-billion dollars, and created a vertically integrated aerospace powerhouse. Their Kansas City headquarters became mission control, but they’ve built an arsenal of five major facilities across the Midwest, covering everything from engineering and machining to assembly and processing. 850,000 square feet of production muscle, 776 employees, and a backlog worth about $3.5 billion! Because in aerospace, if you’re not booked years ahead, you’re probably making paper airplanes. They stacked the deck with the coolest gear in the machining galaxy. In Olathe, Kansas, they installed what Modig Machine Tool themselves call the world’s largest RigiMill facility! 14 Modig spindles running at 20,000 RPM with 240 horsepower each. If you’re not an engineer, think of it like the world’s most caffeinated blender slicing titanium like it’s warm butter, only at tolerances so tight you could park a conspiracy theory in the leftover space. Together, they’ve fine-tuned processes, chased microns like they’re the last slice of pizza, and built a production rhythm that turns out complex aerospace structures with a swagger you usually only see in guitar solos. Of course, Orizon doesn’t live on Modig alone. They’ve got Starrag EcoSpeed 5-axis centers for those “hold my beer” moments in machining, Okuma America Corporation hard-metal cells for when the alloys fight back, and even an internal programming platform nicknamed “Garfield,” because why not give your CNC automation software the personality of a lasagna-loving cat. But none of this works without the people. The machinists, programmers, engineers, and assembly pros at Orizon are the ones turning all that horsepower into perfectly machined parts that keep the aerospace world spinning (and flying) smoothly. We are excited to announce that Orizon Aerostructures has launched a CNC Machinist Registered Apprenticeship program in Oklahoma. Thank you to Oklahoma Manufacturing Alliance for the guidance and support throughout the development of the Apprenticeship program. We look forward to working together with the shared goal of developing a skilled workforce with a nationally accredited program and certification award to the successful Apprentices.
Oklahoma manufacturer Orizon, headquartered in Grove, is looking to elevate its workforce through a customized apprenticeship initiative. Orizon Aerostructures worked with the Oklahoma Manufacturing Alliance in the program design for their CNC Machinist Registered Apprenticeship Program, helping them improve the skills of their employees, while recruiting new employees for the program. A ceremonial kickoff was held last week. Registered apprenticeship programs developed in collaboration with the OMA are targeted at relevant skill needs and assist manufacturers in implementing a program designed around their customized, individual requirements. A clear example of individual requirements is Orizon’s need for a skilled workforce of CNC Machinists. Through the launch of the registered apprenticeship program, Orizon will be able to fulfill these specific skill needs and grow their workforce to facilitate their continued business expansion. “A registered apprenticeship program is a great way for Oklahoma manufacturers to create a workforce solution where they can take current employees or recruit students—young people as well as seasoned individuals—and give them a viable career path with national accreditation,” said Sharon Harrison, Ed.D., OMA’s VP of Workforce Development and owner of Harrison Consulting Group. Joshua Fink, Orizon VP of Machining comments: “We view this apprenticeship program as a method to building successful people who will become the future leaders of the organization. This program will create opportunities for people to develop personal, business, and technical skill sets benefiting themselves, the community, and our business. At Orizon we manufacture the most complex aerospace components in the industry, having a trained, talented workforce is key to our continued growth, and success. We have been pleased to work with OMA in developing this program for the benefit of all stakeholders.”- Josh Fink, Orizon VP, Machining. “An apprenticeship program is essentially a ‘learn and earn’ model that’s been proven nationally to lead to better skills and 92 percent retention within the manufacturing industry,” said Dave Rowland, President of the Manufacturing Alliance. “We need to find ways to create a consistent job pipeline. It is the industry’s No. 1 problem.” For more information or to apply for your company to be a part of the apprenticeship program, contact program facilitator Dr. Sharon Harrison at Sharon.Harrison@okalliance.com.
