With school officially in session, we looked at visit trends for the back-to-school season. Here's what we found: ✏️ The clothing industry is a key category this season, and our data shows off-price retailers like Marshalls are a top destination for back-to-school shoppers. ✏️ Staples saw a notable increase in visits across all states in August, with the Midwest showing the strongest performance. This indicates a strong return to in-person shopping for essential school and office supplies, specifically to traditional office supply retailers. #BackToSchool #Retail #ConsumerBehavior

This fall, the Pumpkin Spice Latte may have met its 'quidditch' match. The new Harry Potter Houses of Hogwarts x Krispy Kreme Collection featuring the Golden Snitch™ Latte is a masterclass in successful collaborations. Its release led to a massive 23.7% surge in visits during the week of August 18th compared to the average week of 2025. So, what are the key ingredients to this magical formula? ⚡️ Tapping into Nostalgia: The collab leverages the enduring appeal of the Harry Potter brand to resonate with a broad audience, from millennials to Gen Z. This emotional connection is a powerful driver of consumer action. ⚡️ Gamification & Scarcity: The limited-time collection and the "Sorting Hat" doughnut create a sense of urgency and a shareable experience. This approach drives immediate traffic and encourages user-generated content, further amplifying the campaign. ⚡️ Integrated Promotions: The campaign integrates additional incentives, such as a "rep your favorite Hogwarts House" free doughnut day and a giveaway for a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood. The free doughnut day, which was held on August 23rd, led to the busiest Saturday of the year with 26.7% more visits than the average Saturday in 2025. These promotions create multiple touchpoints that engage customers and extend the campaign's lifecycle. #Marketing #HarryPotter #BrandPartnerships

The retail landscape in 2025 is more complex than ever, with new consumer realities shaking up the hierarchy of power. Our latest white paper breaks down how hypergrowth from value-focused players is redefining competition, creating an environment where success is about strategic complementarity, not just market share. Here's what we found: 🔹 Walmart is the loyalty leader with nearly half of its visitors returning at least three times per month. 🔹 Dollar General and Dollar Tree Stores saw the highest jump in cross-shopping with cross-visitation from Target, Walmart, and Costco Wholesale doubling and tripling over the last six years. 🔹 Dollar General's overall visits increased by 45.9% since 2019, highlighting its rapid ascent from a "fill-in" destination to a primary shopping location. Learn more in our latest white paper linked below.
