Conductive Polymer Technology Providing Ultra-Safe, Sustainable, Long-Life, and Low-Cost Energy Storage

About us

PolyJoule is a Boston-based energy storage company pioneering conductive polymer battery technology. PolyJoule is focused on delivering ultra-safe, resilient, long-life batteries for stationary storage applications. We are driven by a goal to support true sustainable, reliable power and energy for the world. PolyJoule was born out of MIT and innovated from laboratory to commercial deployment in 2021. Poised to scale globally in the surging renewables renaissance, PolyJoule has re-invented what a stationary storage battery should be: ultra-safe, non-toxic, non-flammable, reliable, recyclable, lower cost, and no active climate control required. These principles are at the core of what we do: Everyone in the world deserves access to clean, renewable electricity; sustainable energy storage makes that a reality. Safety is paramount: energy storage must evolve from risk mitigation to risk free. Reliable and efficient storage comes from intelligent and superior battery chemistry. Energy storage needs to be affordable both today and tomorrow.

Updates

  • We're exhibiting at booth 459 at RE+ Northeast in Boston this February 3-5! Having a show in our home state makes it especially meaningful for us and we are looking forward to connecting with solar installers and solution providers from the Northeast to engage in thoughtful conversations around performance, safety, and long-term reliability. If you're attending, or just in the area, please feel free to stop by and say hello! Who's heading to RE+ Northeast? #REPlusNE #PolyJoule #PoweredByPolymers

  • Have you ever had your phone fail to turn on in sub-zero weather? Now imagine if that happened to the grid.  New York sees 50-100+ days below freezing each year. In cold weather prone areas, traditional Li-ion systems must be kept near room temperature for optimal performance as cold-weather reliability directly affects round trip efficiency and costs (think of your heating bills!). PolyJoule’s polymer-based chemistry is engineered to maintain stability across a wider temperature range, supporting safer and more reliable performance even in colder climates.  Has cold weather ever prevented you from installing a battery system?     #PolyJoule #PoweredByPolymers

  • As the year turns, it’s natural to focus on what comes next.  At PolyJoule, ‘Next’ is powered by fundamentals – through stable performance, deliberate design, and systems that operate reliably over time.    In 2026, our focus remains on what matters most: safety, durability, and chemistry that holds up to whatever the years ahead throw at it.  Wishing everyone a wonderful start to the new year! #PolyJoule #PoweredByPolymers

  • In the spirit of the season, sing along to our very own take on the “12 Days” where we list the twelve real-world battery use cases that keep energy systems steady all winter long.  On the first day of winter, our energy solution gave to me... A grid that stays resilient  Two peak shavers, and   Three fast chargers  Four load shifts  Five PolyJoule batteries  Six mobile backups  Seven load balancers  Eight UPS systems  Nine solar pairings  Ten grid deferrals  Eleven microgrids  Twelve systems running A little reminder of how far energy storage reaches, and why chemistry choice matters at every scale.  What would you add to your own ‘12 Battery Use Cases of the Winter Season’? #PolyJoule #PoweredByPolymers

  • Even holiday toys show how much of our life now runs on stored energy.  Electronic and interactive toys continue to be one of the fastest-growing holiday categories, with more toys shifting to built-in rechargeable batteries rather than single use cells.  It’s a simple example of how common energy storage has become, even at small scales, and why chemistry decisions matter far beyond grid-level systems.  PolyJoule’s initial cells were coin cells, small-format cells are where our chemistry began. Those same fundamentals now support the larger, safer systems we’re deploying today.   What toy from your childhood do you remember draining batteries the fastest?  #PolyJoule #PoweredByPolymers
