Check for Damage - We never skip this step with any of our products Before assembling or operating the PDQ, carry out a thorough inspection. Look for: - Cracks, dents, or deformities - Wear or corrosion on the column, jib, or base - Damage to pins, fasteners, or lifting points If anything looks compromised, stop and report it before continuing. ✔️ 2. Ensure Full Insertion Into the Socket or Base For safe operation, the davit must be fully inserted into its socket or base. - Never operate with the kingpin partially inserted. - Confirm that the davit sits flush and secure before applying any load. A partially inserted davit can lead to instability and serious safety risks. ✔️ 3. Jib Pin Fully Engaged Always double-check that the pin is inserted all the way through. - It must not be halfway in or partially engaged - Verify the locking mechanism is properly set This pin is a critical part of the davit’s integrity; treat it as such. ✔️ 4. Jib Restraining Strap Is Fully Released Before use, make sure the strap is completely undone and open. - A secured or partially tightened strap can interfere with correct assembly - Ensuring it is fully released allows the davit to operate as intended Build these steps into your routine and keep every lift safe, controlled, and compliant.
