  • Saint Luke’s Bishop Spencer Place, a thriving retirement community in the heart of Kansas City, is excited to soon open a specialized memory care wing! The new area features innovative programming led by board-certified physicians specializing in memory and cognitive neurology, along with thoughtfully designed apartments and common areas for older adults living with dementia or cognitive impairment. Dr. Anthony Jackson, medical director of Bishop Spencer Place, says the growing rate of dementia in older adults makes memory care even more important. Watch the story on Health News You Can Use.

  • Our SPECTRA and Women’s Connections Groups proudly sponsored their first community donation event in support of Care Beyond The Boulevard, a Kansas City-based nonprofit serving individuals experiencing housing insecurity. In just five days, employees across Saint Luke’s collected more than two full van loads of warm-weather gear and essential supplies—an incredible response that far exceeded goals. These employee-led Connections Groups bring team members together around shared identities, experiences, and interests—fostering connection and belonging while supporting professional growth and strengthening community impact. The outpouring of donations reflected a commitment to caring beyond hospital and clinic walls. Coats, blankets, hand warmers, tarps, protein snacks, and other critical items will help individuals stay warm and safe during the coldest months of the year. Every box filled and every item donated represents compassion in action. "Gratitude goes out to everyone who participated, donated, shared the message, or helped move boxes and organize collections,” says Meredith Cantrell, Women’s Connection co-lead. “Together, our teams proved how quickly a collective effort can translate into support for neighbors in need.” When we come together with compassion and purpose, we can make a meaningful difference—one warm coat, one kind gesture, and one neighbor at a time.

  • 2025 was a year to remember at BJC Health. We embraced a renewed purpose and identity, united 48,000 caregivers under one system, and advanced care through new partnerships, technology, and community initiatives. Our journey has been marked by strengthened values, enhanced clinical excellence, and deeper connections with the communities we serve. At BJC Health, every moment deserves exceptional care.

  • Two lifelong friends who settled on opposite sides of the state are connected once more through working for BJC Health. Stacy (left) and Jamie (right) have known each other for more than 35 years since they were in first grade. They were in Girl Scouts together, cheerleaders in high school, and in the same sorority at UMKC. After college, they both chose a career in health care that took them to different cities. Stacy is a patient experience manager at St. Louis Children's Hospital, and Jamie is an internal medicine physician with Saint Luke’s Physician Group. When Saint Luke’s integrated with BJC in 2024, they were surprised and excited to learn they would be working for the same organization. “Everyone who knows us said, ‘Of course you two are going to end up working for the same organization,’” said Jamie. “It felt like another chapter in our story. Somehow, we always end up side-by-side.” They may work 250 miles away from each other, but their shared experience of working in patient care helps them understand new perspectives and appreciate the health care system as a whole. “Even though we live four hours apart, the idea that we’re now teammates within the same health system is incredibly meaningful,” said Stacy. “It feels like a full-circle moment in the story of our friendship.” When asked why they have remained friends for more than three decades, the answer was simple: Their bond is as strong as family. 💙

The program is designed to strengthen clinical competency and professional behaviors, preparing new nurses to deliver exceptional patient care with confidence. Congratulations to each of our nurse residents on this important milestone. Your hard work, commitment to learning, and passion for caring for others are shaping a bright future for health care—and we’re honored to be part of your journey. 💙

  • Dr. Robert Reddig’s fascination with the brain led him to a career working with patients with a variety of neurological conditions. “I see patients in clinic to help diagnose their symptoms, work with them to develop a plan for testing, and then—in a collaborative manner—come up with a treatment that maximizes their improvement while minimizing side effects,” Dr. Reddig said. As a neurologist with Saint Luke's Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute, one condition he often sees patients for is headaches, as they are so common and affect patients in so many different ways. “I’m excited to see where headache treatment goes,” Dr. Reddig said. “We have really good medications and treatments now, especially with some of the newer medications in the last five years, so I’m hopeful we keep seeing new options.” At Saint Luke’s, Dr. Reddig enjoys working with a multidisciplinary team to take on cases from multiple approaches. One thing Dr. Reddig wants patients to know is that patients shouldn’t let their problems go untreated—our neurologists are here to help. “I love hearing from a patient that they are doing better,” Dr. Reddig said. “My proudest moments are when I walk into a room and they are smiling and tell me that my treatment really helped change their life so they can live their best life.”

  • Helping people move with less pain and more confidence is central to what David, nurse practitioner, does every day at Saint Luke’s. As part of the neurology team at Saint Luke's Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute, David works with patients experiencing back and neck pain and mobility challenges, guiding them toward improved function and a better quality of life. “As an active outdoorsman, I value my ability to do the things that matter to me,” David said. “I want to help people who may have limitations get back to the activities they value.” Originally from Oklahoma, David has called the Kansas City area home for 30 years. His favorite parts of working at Saint Luke’s are the team and the resources used to help patients achieve their goals. When he’s not working with patients, David is always looking for adventure, whether it’s traveling with family, cycling with the Major Taylor Cycling Club, or backpacking through nature. We’re grateful to have David as part of the team and for the passion he brings to helping patients return to the activities they love.
